Vol.145 A paid holiday

Today is a paid ho
liday.
So I have three holidays.
Do you understand what I mean?
My auful English!!

But I am wasting time....
I must study English for the TOEIC test...

Vol.144 I got married

Finally I got married last month.
But nothing has changed...

By the way, I am going to have a tst of TOEIC after 2 weeks.
I have not studied English and have not spoken...
I will not be able to keep my TOEIC score 800...
Oh my poor English!!!

I forgot even basic grammer...

But still I can read "Japan times".
Sometimes when I go to Tokyo on business trip,
I read the news paper.

I strongly think that daily practics makes me perferct.

Vol.143 Three months later

Hello, how are you doing?

It took 3 months after I joined my company.
I have worked as a sales representative.
My job is very very hard than I expected.
Even on holidays I have some tasks to do....of curse today, too.

But payment is good.
I went to Nakasu for drinking,
and bought something to wear and to be needed for daily life.

I tell you my life in detail littele by little.

入社して三ヶ月。
多忙な毎日です。
英語を勉強する暇もありません。
ですが、給料はいいです。
飲みにも行けますし、服も買えます。
一年前には全く想像できない暮らしをしています。
この話はおいおいします。

Vol.142 Letter to My Parents

The other day I wrote a letter to my parents to say thank you for supporting me.
Because I was watched warmly by them even though I did not work for full time.
They told me to take my time for what I want to do in my future.

Today I received e-mails from mother and father that they would continue to support me in the future.

I told my parents when I save more money I am going to filal devotion to them like taking them to hot springs.

やっとのことで内定が出たので
これまで支えてもらった親に感謝の手紙を出しました。
親に手紙を書いたのは一年半ぶりです。

手紙の内容としては、
やっと正社員の仕事を得たこと、
希望していた職に就けたこと、
親の理解と支援があったおかげで今があること、
いつか稼いだお金で旅行に連れていきたいこと、
などです。

自分も将来は子どもの力になれる親になりたいです。

Vol.141 Sightseeing around Tokyo

I got an offer from another company.
I am very happy to get job offer from two companies.
These offers made me be confidence of myself.

By the way, I expect that I will have to migrate to local areas for my work.
So the day when I will get away from Tokyo is nearing.
During staying here, I need to go sighseeing around Tokyo.

In the past week, I went to Kamakura, Nakano, Kichijyoji, Akihabara and Shinagawa Aquarium.

＊＊＊＊＊＊＊＊＊＊＊＊＊＊＊＊＊＊＊＊＊＊＊＊＊＊＊＊＊＊＊＊＊＊＊＊＊＊
最終的には二社から内定をもらいました。
雇用情勢が厳しい中で、
しかも既卒実務未経験である自分が正社員として採用されたことは、
大きな自信へと繋がりました。
仕事を探しているみなさん、
きっといつかは報われる日がきます。
自信を持って挑んでください。

さて、東京を離れる日が近いため、
東京周辺の観光に行ってきました。
相方も連れての観光です。

まずは鎌倉の大仏。
意外と小さくてガッカリしました。
それよりも長谷観音像がすごかったです。

吉祥寺では井の頭公園。
バラバラ殺人が起きた公園で有名ですが、
そこから連想させるような殺風景な公園ではなかったです。
お店を出す人立ち止まる人、漫才を披露する人、散歩やボートを楽しむ人、
で活気があってにぎわっていました。
のんびりできるような公園ではなかったです。

中野では商店街。
四年ぶりに回転寿司を食べました。
貧乏な性格が抜けてないので
ガリばっかり食べてましたｗ
給料をもらったらトロを食べてみたいですね。

秋葉原の電気街。
ゲームがやりたくてＵＳＢコントローラを購入。
マリオがやりたいという彼女も購入。
でもまだゲームしてませんｗ

品川水族館。
区民割引で二人で800円も安く観れました。
カメとクラゲの遊泳している姿が印象的でした。
イルカのショーも良かったです。

Vol.140 Long Awaited Offer

Hey, everyone!
I have my best news to tell you!
Finally I got an offer from a company!
I can not believe it!!
The company is the best one which I really wanted to join,
so I can not describe how much happy I am!
On the phone father and mother seemed to be glad to hear that I finally got a job offer.
And my girlfriend was delighted with, too.
Today will be a memorable day for me in my life.

Vol.139 Reject but Bear

I had an interview this week, and I had some leads.
But today I received an email telling me that I was rejected after the interview of the company.
I do not want to count how many companies has rejected me.
And to make matters worse, I am getting used to be rejected candidate.
But I think working as a sales rep is much harder unless I can go over the present situation...

今週面接したところからまたもや不採用のメールが来ました。
自分としては手ごたえを感じたのでいけるかなと思ったのですが・・・
ここまで不採用が続くと、不採用に慣れてしまいました。
仕事探しでまさかこんなに苦労するとは思いもしませんでした。
時期が時期だけに本当に最悪のタイミングです。
ただ、ここで踏ん張って仕事を見つけることができれば、
仕事をしてからもなんらかの形できっと自分の身になると信じています。

Vol.138 President with A Can of Cola

Yesterday I realized there are various people in the world.
To tell the truth, in a job interview I was so surprised to meet a man.
Although he is the president he entered the reception room with a can of cola.
And more, he sat cross-legged on the chair.

To meet people, the first impression is very important for me.
I could easily talked with him,
But I can not understand why he behaves himself so casually.

そしてドカッと着席して足組みしていたら皆さんはどんな印象を受けますか？
私は彼の社長という肩書きはすごいとしても、
その人の人間性を疑います。
そしてそのような経営者の下では働きたくありません。
噂には聞いていましたが、予想以上にエキセントリックな方でした。
社会人としての礼儀は出来ていないとしても、
一度会ったら絶対に忘れないインパクトだけは見習いたいです。

Vol.136 Absolute Disaster

I really messed up.
I thought I would be interviewed with a foreign leader of the sales department.
So I prepared for what I should say in English.

But in the interview I was very puzzled to see a gentleman, who was a typical Japanese.
I was really upset that and I was very nervous to talk with him.
A human resource lady pointed out my inarticulate delivery.
"Mr.Nikukyu, you look differently that I met you before".

Sometimes I was with my mind totally in panic.
I think this interview was the worst or the second in my life.
The chance which I can get an offer from the company is very little.
If there is a word "miracle" in the world, I believe in the miracle.

やっちゃいました、大失敗です。
今日の面接は今までの中でも一位二位を争うくらい本当にひどい内容でした。
理由はガッチガチに緊張してダラダラと長く話した挙句、
何を伝えたいのか自分さえもわからないようなほどパニックになってしまったからです。

実は、今回は部門長が出てくるだろうから、
きっと外国人の担当者と面接だと思い、
英語で対策を練っていました。
ところが面白いほど見事に予想が外れてしまいました。
出てきたのは感じの良い普通の日本人の部長さんでした。
この戸惑いからパニックになってしまったのが痛恨のミスでした。
人事の方にも、
「あれ？前回と違って歯切れが悪いねー印象変わったね」
と言われる始末。
40分程度の面接でしたが、
何一つアピールできなかった感があります。
これでオファーが来ることはまず有り得ないでしょう。

どうやら今年は本当に運がないようです。
再び初心に戻って就職活動をやり直し、
来年こそは内定をもらいたいです。

Vol.135 To Be A Sales Rep

I want to be a sales rep.
Because I have a dream to be entrepreneur in the future and I believe that experience of salesman will make me good effect.
If I continue to make career in research I will be a project leader at most.
But if I start to make career as a sales rep, and then work as a marketing staff, finally I may found a company by myself.
That's why now I am applying for sales rep positions.

Tomorrow I have a final interview with a sales manager of a pharmaceutical company.
For that reason, he must be interested in my business mind.
So today I read the two how-to book on sales.

I hope that I will do my best tomorrow.

将来やってみたいこと、それは起業することです。
具体的なビジネスプランについては企業秘密なのでここでは明かせませんが・・・。
えっ、無職のやつが企業秘密だ言うなんておかしいって？？ｗ

それはさておき、なぜ営業職なのか。
結局、研究職で頑張っても、せいぜい研究部門長でしょう。
そして自分の好きな研究ができるというわけでもないですし。
だったら営業で利益を出すことを学び、マーケで商品戦略を身に付け、
どんどんキャリアアップしていけば将来社長になることだって、
自分で起業することもチャンスがあると思うんです。

人生一度きりです。
決して逃げない、そして挑戦し続ける人生を選びます。

明日は今年最後の面接が控えています。
本命の会社との最終面接です。
営業部長との面接があり、
営業未経験ながらも営業マインドを少しでもアピールできるよう
今日は二冊のビジネス書を読みました。
明日は全力を出せるよう頑張ります。

Vol.134 Price of Express Bus

I took a JR bus to Tokyo from Osaka.
In general, sharing seats by a man and a woman are unusual unless they are not a couple.
But the JR company is very lazy.
They just assign seats to passenger without thinking of male and female.
For that reason, I was with a girl during 10 hours to Tokyo.
I did not sleep at all, she kicked back me a little.
If she had been a beautiful lady, I would have felt happy.
But in fact, she was not...

The trip by bus made me very tired,
so yesterday I did not do anything at all.
I just slept and slept in my house.

I prefer something cheap but I learned a lesson.
Sometimes you need to invest money for yourself.

JRの夜行バス、とっても疲れました。
理由は男女関係なく相席になっていたからです。
他の民間企業のバスでは男女での相席は今までなかったんですが、
今回初めて男女で相席になってしまいました。
後ろのおじさんも知らないおばさんの相席で困惑していました。
おかげで全く寝ることができず、
10時間もうとうとと格闘していました。
無職なため安い手段を選ばざるをえない状況にありますが、
時には覚悟を決めて高い金額を払うことも必要だと教訓を得ました。

Vol.133 Himeji Castle

I asked him "Where do you want to go before leaving Osaka?"
He replied to me, "I wanna go and see Himeji castle!"
I said, "Why not?"

Next day, we went to Himeji.
I have seen many castles until now, like in Kumamoto, Matsumoto and Sakata.
But this castle seems to be top in my list.
The castle has been preserved in a good condition.
I will show you some pics.

本当は京都か奈良に行きたかったのですが、
大阪を離れる前に姫路城が見たいというＫ君の意向を大事に、
姫路に行ってきました。
生憎の天気模様でしたが、持ち前の晴れ男をパワーを発揮して、
無事にお城を見学することができました。
今まで見た中では一番保存状態が良いお城ではないでしょうか。
さずがに世界遺産というだけのことはあった気がします。
鼻汁ずるずるの猫もかわいかったです。ｗ

Vol.132 My Friend K-kun

After the interview, I left Awaza for HigashiMikuni to see a friend of mine.
I met him for the first 2 months, so I did not feel any nostalgic.
He was busy for packing because he would move to Tochigi.
So his room was filled with many cartons.
We talked about job and recent events.
He had an appointment with his friend at 18 in Umeda.
So I also left his house for Namba to eat Takoyaki.
But the Takoyaki was not so delicious as I expected before.

And then, I had a dinner at Yayoiken,
A good point of the shop is you can refill as you want.
I refilled 2 times, so I felt full berry.

I drank a can of beer at my friend's house, while waiting for him.
He came home over 22 p.m, as soon as he saw me he began to apologize me.
He felt sorry for that he told me a lie.
He was going to meet a girl, who he knew her on the Internet.
But he could not see her because she was so late for the appointment.
He got very angry and he believed that she was good girl.
Because he separated from ex-girlfriend 3 months ago, so he felt very lonely.
I encouraged that he would find better girl soon.

大阪のたこやきも微妙でした。
ネットで調べた店に行きましたが、
正直うちの近くの銀だこのほうが美味しかったです・・・。

それはともかく、
まじめなＫ君が出会い系（本人はお見合いサイトだと反論）
にハマっていることを知ってショックを受けました。
ネットじゃなくてリアルな世界で見つけたほうが絶対にいいとアドバイスしたのですが、
Ｋ君が前の彼女と別れたときに負った傷は相当大きく、
その傷の癒しを求めているようです。
職場でも出会いがほとんどないＫ君は、
ついに出会い系に手を出してしまったようです。
今回仲良くなった女の子には結局すっぽかされてしまい、
その怒りを静めるべく晩酌に付き合いました。
これもＫ君にとっては一つの社会経験になってくれるといいですね。
彼は真面目なんできっといい人が見つかることと思います。

Vol.131 Tomato Ramen

I stayed in a hotel of Awaza area in Osaka.
In the room I was going to make practice for the interview, but I did not do it at all.
Because I had watched TV like crazy.
In my apartment there is no TV or radio,
so I got absorbed in watching knight scoop or other program.
I felt hungry, and I moved around the hotel.
I found a ramen shop which seems to be famous for the tomato taste ramaen.
But the ramen was usual taste.
I do not know why the shop is popular.

Next morning, I woke up to take a big bath.
And then, I prepared for the interview.

Concerning the interview, the result was so so.
I am not sure that I will get an offer from that company.

After that, I took a lunch near the Awaza station.
The lunch was also not so good as they have a good reputation.

＊＊＊＊＊＊＊＊＊＊＊＊＊＊＊＊＊＊＊＊＊＊＊＊＊＊＊＊＊＊＊＊＊＊＊＊＊＊
食の大阪、天下の台所など形容される大阪に行ってきました。
それだけに結構期待して行ったんですが、期待外れに終わってしまいました。
まぁたいしたもんを食ってもいない自分が言うのも何ですが、
トマトラーメンにしろ、定食屋にしろ、口コミでの評判の割にはイマイチでした。
でも、たった二軒で大阪の食を語ることはできないと思います。
たまたま貧乏くじを引いてしまったのだと思いたいです。
ちなみにこのトマトラーメンはなんだか自分でも作れそうな気がします。

それよりテレビの魔法にかかってしまいました！
うちにはテレビがないんですが、たまに見るとめちゃくちゃ面白いですね。
ちょうどマジックの番組や探偵ナイトスクープを放映していたんですが、
一人で「スッゲー」とか「ギャハハ」って声を上げていましたｗ
仕事が見つけかったらテレビが欲しいnikukyuでした。

Vol.130 Where is Umeda?

I have ever heard the word "Umeda" many times, but
I do not know exactly where it is located.
I think it is the same as some Osaka people do not know where "Yaesu" or "Marunouchi" are.

I was planning to let me stay at my friends's house.
But he has a farewell party tonight,
so it is not sure when he will come home and he must be getting much drunken.
So I had to book a hotel.
In general, I prefer to stay at capsule hotel because it is very cheap.
But in Osaka, I cannot find a reasonable hotel around ShinOsaka,
so I caould not help paying a little bit more to stay at a hotel.

I will be staying until Sunday, and if possible I would like to visit Kyoto or Nara.
Because I have never been to these places.
I will take my frend there.

仕事探し2008もいよいよ佳境に入ってきました。
今日は大阪に遠征に行ってきます。

梅田やなんばってよく聞きますけど、今まで深く考えたことはありませんでした。
今回大阪行きに際してウィキで調べてみて改めて大阪の地名のことだとわかりました。
関西の人も東京に来ることがなければ、八重洲や丸の内って何のことだかわからないですよね。
それと同じだと思うんです。

今夜は友人の家に泊めてもらう予定でしたが、
送別会があるので何時に帰るかわからないとのことでした。
気兼ねなく飲んでもらうために宿泊は断念し、
3800円の安い宿を取ることにしました。
新幹線代、宿代、メシ代と貯金が見る見るなくなっていきますが、
この借りは働いて返してもらうことにしましょう！

Vol.129 Gastric Inflammation

I have suffered from gastric inflammation.
Why?
I suppose that it is because I am subconciously full of stress from job hunting and strain with the tension.
I got experience of getting gastric inflammation for the first time.
I may be getting life unfer big pressure everyday.
Anyway, I bought a medicine for gastric inflammation at a pharmaceutical store.
And by the medicince my sympton become better than before.

Today I had a happy news.
I became a finallist of a interview of a pharmaceutical company which I hoped I would join.
The selection is held next week and I will know the result until the end of the year.

仕事探しから来るストレスの蓄積で胃炎になってしまいました。

でも今日は嬉しいお知らせがありました。
本命の製薬会社から連絡があり、
前回の面接が好評だったので最終面接に進めてもらえるそうです。
もしかすると今年中に結果がわかるかもしれません。
最後の最後で大逆転を狙います。

Vol.128 Challenge

By which kanji can you show yourself this year?
As for me, it is "Challenge(挑)".
Because in this year I have been challenging.
I quit my job, decided to study an exam to be a vet, and now I am challenging to get a job.
But unfortunately until now I have failed most of the things which I challenged.
Next year I hope I will get a big success.

自分の今年一年を表す漢字。
それは「挑」です。
会社を辞め、大学受験に挑戦、そして玉砕・・・。
今は次なるステージを求めて職探し中。
と、常に挑み続けた一年でした。

Vol.127 Overconfidence

Today I received an e-mail from a human resource staff of a chemical company.
I was rejected after a job interview.
I think I did my best on the interview.
But I have no working experience at companies,
so I understand this is my weakest point.
I am a little shocked to hear to be rejected a candidate to the next selection.
Because I was sure that I would pass the 1st interview.
But there is a fact that some companies showed interest to see me.
On the basis of this experience, I will do more seriously.
There is no justification for overconfidence.

Vol.126 Never Better

Yesterday's interview with a pharmaceutical company was mostly succusessful I think.
Because I did my best.
I have no regret if I can not pass the 1st interview.
I hope that I will go to the next step in the near future.

Additionally, I will go to Osaka to have a final interview with a logistics company.
So far so good.

昨日は遂に本命の会社との面接がありました。
4対1の圧迫面接で、意地悪な質問もされましたが、
想定内の質問だったので落ち着いて切り替えしました。
さすがに外資の製薬はすごいですね。
建物はピッカピカ、警備体制はバッチリ、受付嬢は美人揃いｗ
でも現場での仕事を希望しているので本社はどうだっていいんですけどねｗ

別の会社の最終面接日程も決まりました。
大阪に行く予定です。
大阪は5年ぶりくらいですかね。
たこ焼きとお好み焼きが食べたいです。
最近絶好調が続いていますが、油断せずに確実に内定を取りにいきます。

Vol.125 Ride on a Wave

Yesterday I had a plan to have an interview with a lab instrument supplier.
I remembered that an agent said to me,
"Once you have a plan to be interviewed, many interviews will be continued after another."
I really think so.
Since December, I have already had interviews woth 5 comapies.
I did not expect that last month.
I must be ridding on a good wave of job hunting.

これで今のところ候補は5社になりました。
この流れに乗って、内定をもらえるよう頑張ります！

Vol.124 Kazafstan Festival

Last Sunday I and my girlfriend went to a Kazakhstan music festival at Suntry hall.
Fortunately we could enjoy it for free because we were invited by the sponsor.
Many foreign people were seen, of course including ambassador of Kazafstan in Japan.

The concert was composed of 2 parts, one was traditional music and another one was classical music.
I enjoyed listening to the classical music.

By the way, I think the people from central Asia are very similar to Japanese in terms of their looking.
Some of them are like Japanese than Chinese.
But concerinig music, their music are between Indian and Chinese music.
Even if you do not know where Kazakhstan is, you can expect where it is.
In my opinion, geographical distances are much related to uniqueness of music.

日曜日にカザフスタン音楽祭に行ってきました。
内容としては非常に良かったです。
しかも無料で観覧できましたし、デート代の節約にもなりましたｗ

世界の音楽を聴いていつも思うことがあります。
それは地理的な距離と音楽の個性は密接に関連していることです。
方言や言語もこれと同じですよね。
地理的に近ければ近いほどわかりあえる。
逆に地理的に遠く離れていてもそれぞれが同じように発展する場合もあります。
音楽の類似性から人類学にアプローチしてみたら面白い結果が出てくるのかもしれません。

日記を書いてみて思うのですが、私の英語は重症ですねｗ
スペルミスや文法の間違いがひどすぎです・・・。

Vol.123 Favorite Target

This morning I received a call from staff agency, and he told me that I would have an interview with a pharmaceutical company which I applied for last month through the agency.
Finally, I passed the applicant screening.
I had waited for this notification for a month.
I am glad to hear that because the conpany is my favorite one in all the companies which I applied for.
I know this is not informal job offer, but this is just the beginning.
From now I will prepare for the interview.

今頃になってようやく連絡が来ました。
内定ではないですが、大本命の会社なのでまずは一歩前進できて嬉しいです。
これから面接に向けて特訓して準備万端で臨むつもりです。

Vol.122 Kanji of 2008

In a week a kanji which shows this year will be released.
So what kanji will be chosen do you think?

I suppose that "中" shows simply the impressive events.
For example, poisoned dumplings, a riot in Tibet, an earthquake in Shichuan, Olympic in Beijing, and so on.
You can look back on most of this year by these events which I described.
But concerning politics, "中" does not include abrupt resignation of ex-prime minister Fukuda and historical birth of Balak Obama.
So as some people say "変" may show this year more simple than "中".
Because it includes not only nature disastrous in China and Myanmar but also political changes both in Japan and USA.
But connection between Japan and China is becoming stronger and stronger.
Food, clothes, electrical appliances, most of things supporting our daily lives are from China.
If it had been 10 years ago, we would have not imagined this strong tie of the two countries.
So in my opinion "中" is Kanji of this year.

12月12日は毎年恒例の今年を表す漢字の発表があります。
昨年は食品の偽装事件が相次いだ結果、「偽」が選ばれました。
さて今年はいったい何が選ばれるのでしょうか。
自分としては、餃子事件、チベット暴動、北京ペリンピックなど中国関連の報道が世間の関心を集めた一年だったと思います。
そこで今年を表す漢字は中国の「中」ではないかと予想しています。
ただ、突然の福田首相辞任や歴史的な黒人大統領の誕生といった今年の政治トピックは反映しないので、そういった点では若干弱い気がします。
しかし、近年の日本と中国との文化・経済的なコネクションがますます強まっていることを考えると、「中」でもいいのかなという気はします。
食品、衣類、電化製品などそのほとんどが中国由来です。
この現実を認識するためにも「中」がふさわしいのではないかと思いました。

Vol.121 Job Hunting

Hi there!
It has been long time since I posted an article last time.
My English is becoming worse and worse, I think.
Because I stopped to study for TOEIC and to read English news paper.

I have had many things to think these days.
A thing is job hunting.
I have applied for more than 20 companies to be interviewed me.
But until now only 3 companies have had interested in my career.
They are machine maker, logistics company and chemical company.
Maybe a lifescience compay and a pharmaceutical comapny wil be listed up for my interview.

At the interview of the machine maker, the staff made a presentation of the company.
They explained job spec which they need me and I tried to attract them.
It was O.K until I was interviewed with the executives,
but not with the president.
He was from Europe and he can comunicate with me only in English.
So I answered his question but I could not find any words to express my passion to work with them.
It was my mistake that I did not prepare for this interview in English even though I knew that I was told to have a interview in English by its human resorce.
The president said to me,
"Your English is very good. Do not be shy."
But I understand how poor I spoke to him.
For that reason I realized I need to make practice for speaking immediately if I want to get a job related with overseas.

ごぶさたしております。
あれから色々とありまして、今は仕事を探しています。
20社以上エントリーしましたが、結局面接してもらったのは、三社のみ。
ほとんどは応募資格不適合ということでお祈りメールが届きましたｗ
だって実務経験なしですもん。そりゃぁねぇ・・・
自分が人事だったら採用ためらいますｗ
でも行動（応募）しなければ何も始まらんわい！ってことで、
今の今も色んな企業にアタックしております。
面接で会社んいお邪魔するんですが、
世の中には色んな会社があるんだなぁと思いました。
面接していただいたある企業さんは東証一部上場なだけあって、
受付嬢がいたので感激しましたｗ
昔ちょっとだけ会社に勤めていたことがあったんですが、
会社全体で30人くらいの零細企業で、
自社ビルなんてとんでもない。
雑居ビルの5階にありました。
受付嬢は私でしたｗ
入社し立ての社員がインターフォンに出ると決まっておりましたのでｗ
なので、こういう会社もあるんだなぁと遅ればせながら社会勉強しております。
語尾が丁寧語になってしまうのは、職務経歴書を書きすぎたためだと思われますｗ
とりあえず早く仕事を見つけて良い気持ちで年を越したいです！

Vol.120 My Second TOEIC Score

I was looking forward to knowing the TOEIC socre which was my second trial.
After taking the exam I expected to get at least 800.

As I expected, my score was 805 in total.
Last time I foud it my weak point was reading.
Because I took 345 points from reading section, whereas 420 points from listening section.
So I foucused on studying grammer and vocabrurary much time than listening.
Thanks to my effort for studying I scored 420 points from reading section.
But, to the contrary, my listening score went down to 385.

In the next TOEIC exam, I am sure to take 420 points from each section.

765→830目指して勉強していましたが、目標には届かず。
805でした。

Vol.119 Practice makes perfect

Do you read a newspaper every day?
I have a custom of reading Japan times every morning at a library.

I found it very difficult to understand what was written in the newspaper 3 months ago.
But thanks to continuing to study English so hard every day, now I can have little difficulty in reading the newspaper.
"Practice makes perfect."

英語を勉強し始める３ヶ月前は、
英字新聞はもっと難しいもの、
敷居の高いものと思っていたんですが、
そうでもないんですね。
最近英字新聞を読んでみたら、スラスラと読めました。
でも見慣れない単語がありましたが、類推すれば大意は掴めますね。
継続は力なり。

Vol.118 The 1st Guest

The first guest to visit my house was a foreign friend of mine.
We invited him to have dinner together and decided to cook chicken as a main dish because he is Muslim.
We cooked radish salada with biled chicken, miso soup, kawari gohan and tsukune.

At 20:00 we went to the nearest station to receive him.
As soon as I found him, we hugged each other.
My GF near me was laughing at the strange scene.
I introduced him to her.

We enjoyed the delicious meals which we prepared with drinking a glass of cold red tea.
Of course, we did not stop having nice conversation at all.
After the dinner, we had some cake brought by him as well one prepared by her.
He was very satisfied with the all from the end to the beginning.

We saw him off to the station.
We promised him to visit him next time.

我が家に遊びに来た初めてのゲストは外国人の友達でした。

Vol.117 New Comer

Yesterday she spoke to me,
"When you arrive at home you will get something good"
I asked her,
"Maybe a cat is in my house?"

Although I entered my house and then I looked for something nice inside,
I could not find it at all.
She said, "Try to find it carefully!"
At last, I found a betta in a fish tank.

In fact, we had had a betta in the past.
But unfortunately our cat attacked and killed the betta...
Now we do not have any cats and dogs, so the new comer can live in peace and comfort.
We named it Kuppi.
He has already begun to attract our attention.

「家に帰ったらいいことがある。」
と言われて、とっさに思いついたことは、

Vol.116 Arabic dish

June 25th was the anniversary day we talked to each other.
We went to a restaurant where it offer Arabic dish.
In the restaurant almost of all seats were occupied by Japanese as well as Arabic people.
Most songs played there made me nostalgic for memories which I used to live in Arabic country.
We enjoyed eating some Arabic food while appreciating belly dance.
Although the amount of food per person is less and also of the price is higher, we were satisfied with the taste and atmosphere as if we had a trip to Arab countries.

By the way, I ordered menu to the waiter in Arabic.
But he took it for granted that he was spoken to Arabic by Japanese.
It means that many Japanese customer who can speak to him in Arabic visit the restaurant. Surprisingly, he can speak Japaneses very fluently.

After that, we stopped at Ministop to eat ice cream.
They offered 2 ice creams free to the people who bought a Waon card.
So we could have ice cream without charge.

記念日にアラブ料理のレストランに行ってきました。

でも日本人によるベリーダンスは微妙でした・・・。

Vol.115 Misokatsu and Gifu

Last Tuesday I went to Gifu by Shinkansen and local trains.
Not having known Kodama is not the fastest one, it took more than 2 hours to arrive at Nagoya by Kodama.
On the way to Gifu, I stopped at Nogoya station to eat Misokatsu.
It cost me no less than 1680 yen but I was satisfied with the taste.

After eating Misokatsu I took a train for Gifu.
Gifu is located near Nagoya in 20 minutes.
I checked location of bus station and time table for the next day,
and then I checked in a far cheaper hotel which offers a room for 3100 yen.
It was very hot at that time, and I took shower.
After taking a nap I bought some food like ice cream and juice.
I did the final check for the exam which was held the next day.
I went to bed at 22:30.

Next morning I got up at 4:30 to exercise my mind.
I had breakfast and I took a bus for Gifu Univ.
Gifu is located in the suburb of the city, which makes me feel peaceful.
I saw street cats in the campus as well as wild birds in the lake.

By the way, what food is famous for in Gifu?
I have no idea about the local food, so I decided to eat Misokatsu in Nagoya.

名古屋と岐阜に行っててきました。
名古屋駅の矢場とんで食べたみそかつは美味しかった！
でもあの味噌ダレさえあれば自宅でも簡単に再現できそうな味。
東京でも食べれる店があるようだ。
ところで、岐阜で有名な食べ物っていったい何でしょう？

Vol.114 TOEIC Test (2nd)

I did not leave an umbrella all day.
I took TOEIC exam at Meijigakuin Univ.

Although I found difficult to understand some questions in the listening section, I found easy in the reading section.
And I could manage to solve the all questions 5 minutes before the test ended.
So I review only several questions which I found difficult at first.
I am expecting that I will get the score around 800.

I promise to reach 900 within this year.

今回で二回目となるTOEICテストを受験してきました。
パート２のリスニングが難しく、一方のリーディングは前回の借りを返せたと思います。
おそらく８００は行ったんじゃないでしょうか。
前回は時間ギリギリでしたが、今回は五分前に終わり、見直す時間もありました。
今年中には900に到達できるように頑張ります！

Vol.113 Mock exam

Hi! I have been busy all week.
Today is the day for TOEIC exam, is not it?
Are you ready?

Yesterday I tried taking mock exam.

The expected range of my score was 790-885.
As my previous score was 765, I may get higher score!
But mock exam does not always reflect real score.
I do my best!

My father called me to encourage to do my best for the exam.
And he added that, "You have never failed any exams in your life. You can do it!"

Yes, my merit is to have passed any exams.
I have always said to someone who care about me,
"No problem. If I failed, who could pass?"
But objectively speaking, this time exam is the difficult one in my life.
Yeah, I will do my best!

落ちることも十分ありえます。
ベストを尽くしてきます！

Vol.111 100 Yen Textbook

I have studied English from this textbook for 2 months.
It was ten years ago that I met him for the first time.
I bought the book for taking the exam for the Univ.
But I did not use him at all, and I forgot what I left it behind somewhere at home.

After 10 years later, I was in the corner of countless textbooks for learning English again at a BookOff.
I found him and I was motivated to buy the book.
Because it was sold for 100 yen.
I bought it because of a sense of nostalgia after a 10 year absence and its cheapness.

Although I know I am getting off the subject, let me say this.
Now that you can see a lot of BookOff over Japan.
Why are they so popular with the general public?
Many customers come to shop to buy and sell books.
And some people visit there only to browsing.
They do so not because they have highly eco-friedly mind but because they want to get books at cheapest cost, and to sell at highest price as much as possible.
As a result, the recycling books related industry is booming.
We, I mean, the poor can not afford to buy new books.
Book off is on the side of the economically-weak.

Coming back to what I was mentioning earlier, I worked through 2 sets of the textbook. I am going to review the book again.

二ヶ月前に１００円で買った参考書を二回解きました。
早くも三回目に入ろうとしています。
ブックオフが人気を集めている理由は、
本を買えない人や中古本で我慢せざるをえないような経済的な立場が弱い人が増えているからではないでしょうか。
高額教材や英会話学校に行かないでも、安い教材やインターネットを利用すれば、TOEICで900点を越すこともそう硬くないということを自分が証明します。

Vol.110 Kiriboshi Radish

As I said before I like cooking.
But I do not always like cooking.
There is an exception.
I feel like cooking only when I have much time.
When I feel uneasy, nervous, or busy I cook quickly.
Last night I took up much time to prepare for Kiriboshi Radish.

On the contray, today I did with ramen.
I just biled water and sauteed vegetable.
I was satisfied with the taste.
The examination is drawing closer.
I am starting to get nervous...

Vol.109 Biting Nails

What kind of habit you have?
You shake your legs unconsciously?　Or you touch your hair?
As for me, I have a habit of touching around my mouth by a hand when I look at a computer screen. And I have always crossed my arms when I think something seriously.
In a short, I can not keep my hands still anitime.

My friend consulted me about his health prblem.
Recently, he has suffering from a pain in the mouth where he got some white spot behind his lip.
He is looking a good medicine to treat the problem, but he does not know what the cause is even though he has had the same problem in his coutry.
According his explanation, the problem seems to be connected with eating dry food or without drinking water for a long time.
Based on his story, and I lookd for the exact cause on the web.
My final conclusion is that some japanse suffer from the same problem as his because of their habit of biting the nails.

So my friend may correspond to this idea because he is a famous person for his biting nails anytime.
There is a possibility that germs on the nails may influence badly on their skin in the mouth.
But I can not find any medicine which is effective to treat with the problem.

私の癖は画面を見るときに手を口元の近くに置いておくことと、
何か真剣に考えるときに腕を組むことでしょうか。
あくまでも自覚している範囲ですが。
もしかしたら、他人の目から見たらもっとたくさん癖があるのかもしれません。
友人から「口内の出来物に利く薬が欲しいんだけど、なんていう薬がいいのか」と相談を受けました。自分が調べた範囲では薬というよりも、切除して治すのが一般的という内容しか見当たりませんでした。いい薬ないんだろうか・・・。

Vol.108 Meeting Miyazaki Governor Higashikokubaru

Of course I am talking about the event in my dream.
Sorry for setting you expectation.

I can remember pieces of memory in the dream.
I was in the department store, and I was looking for the exist to go outside.
The building was linked with the station as well prefectural government, and some people were about to commute to work.
I found Mr. Higashikokubaru in them, but nobody noticed that he was the famous Governor.
I had the courage to speak to him,
"Keep it up"
But he ignored me as if he had not been spoken to by anyone.
I was very disappointed....

I dropped by the food floor and bought only a piece of konjac.
I paid just 15 yen for it.
Then, I cannot connect my memory....

I do not know really why the building linked with department store and station,
why I bought only Konjac, and why it was so cheap...
I want to see a doctor and want him to see my deep psyche...

なぜ食品売り場でコンニャクだけを買ったのか、しかも１５円という安さって？？
謎は深まる一方です。
誰かこの私の深層心理を解読してくださいｗ

Vol.107 Bookworm

As you may know well, I am poor at expressing what I think in English.
It is because I am poor at Japanese, too.
I read newspapers, books, and scientific Journal but I can not understand what they are talking about.
Especially, I am terrible at thinking logically although I was students in the science.
I deeeply regret of my low-performance...
For that reason I respect those who can think things logically and justify people.

I think weak point of mine stems from not having studied hard Japanese when I was a child.
It reminds me that I did not have any habit of reading books except comic around that time.
Most people as I respect around me are bookworms.
It is little dout that books have much impact on people's character.
In my opinion, a great person is crazy about reading books.
The more you read books, the richer you will be in humanity.

自分の周りにいる尊敬できるすごい人は読書家が多いように思います。
逆に、たいしたことないなって思わせる人は本も読まなきゃ、
時事問題にも無関心な人が多いように思います。
自分の場合、本や新聞も読んでいるけど、頭に入ってこないので、
ある問題に対して議論したり自分の意見がなかったりします。
なので、自分もたいした人間ではありません。
英語でも日本語でもこうやって文章を書いていると、
自分の言語能力の無能さに悲しくなります。
このブログを始めた理由の一つは、
英語力を高めるために英語でブログを書いてみようと思い立ったからです。
三ヶ月で100以上の記事を書いてきましたが、
ほんの少しはマシになってのではないかと。
この調子でがんばります。

Vol.106 Why I Do Not Like Monburan

Have you ever eaten Monburan cake?
I have eaten it several times in my life but I do not like it so much.
Why I feel so?
I was wondering either Monburan has such a taste or all of the Monburan which I ate was not good one.
And the other day I knew that a cake shop in Jiyugaoka pioneered Monburan in Japan.
I expected the Monburan made by the shop must be the best one in my life because the shop is a pineer in the field.

Last Sunday I tried their Monburan.
By contrast, the taste was usual.
Yeah, I got it.
The reason why I donot like Monburan is not I do not like the taste but no shops can make a good Monburan.

Vol.105 Nikkorogashi of Potato

Last night I fought over little things with my GF.
After that I caught a chill at once.
I had a slight temperature, so I put on warm clothes and took cold medicine.
Taking medicine, I had difficulty in falling asleep.

I had been feeling nohow since today's morning.
So I decied to prepare dinner in earnest than usual.
This time I tried to cook Nikkorogashi of Potato.

Yeah, it was out of the world!

でもこうやって自分の作った料理を見られるって結構恥ずかしいｗ

Vol.104 Okonomiyaki

Last night I went to Okonomiyaki restaurant neaby my house.
I have ever been to Okonomiyakiya four or five times in my life.
So it is very rare for me to eat Okonomiyaki out.

We went to the restaurat where mt GF has interest in but there were full of customers.
They asked me my contact information so that they could let us know when they had empty seats. We left there for going home and waiter for the calling from mama.

We drank cans of beer at home to save the expense at the restaurant, where it serves a glass of beer at 500 yen.
After about 1 hour, they informed me that they were ready to receive us.
I ordered a normal okonomiyaki with garlic and ricecake, and she did a okonomiyaki with soba.

Frankly speaking, the foods were not tasty but acceptable.
But we enojoyed Okonomiyaki on a hot plate.

空き待ちをしたほど人気のお好み焼き屋さんに行ったのですが、

Vol.103 Earthquake hit my hometown

Yesterday I felt the shock of the earthquake during sleeping.
But I did not anticipate that it was the strong earth quake and its focus was Tohoku area.
So I slept again.
In the dream I met my niece.
I was about to receive her at her elementary school although in fact she is still under one year old.
My sister sent me a photo of the baby after she stopped crying.
It was her that I met in the dream.

After getting up I sent e-mail to my sister and asked her whether my niece is fine or not.
According to her, my niece cried a lot with being surprised at the earthquake.
After that my parents notified me that they were safe.
What should happen if this earthquake were to hit Tokyo?

Vol.102 My way to let the stress out

How do you release the streess?
In my case, these days I let the stress out by cooking.

Yeterday, I tried Kinpira Gobou at the sight of the Web.

It's successful and yummy for the first trial.
On the other hand, as for Ohitashi of spinatch, I did not follow the recipe until the end. Because I did not have enough time to cook it.

If the meals which I prepare for is yummy than I expected I feel happy and gain more confidence of cooking skill.
I will continue to widen repertoire more and more.

Vol.101 Unexpected Bonus

It's not about my bonus but hers.
She did not expect to get the bonus from her company at all.
Because she has just began to work at the hospital as a new employee since April.

But yesterday she came home with some cakes as a souvenir.

It was the first time for her to buy something nice on the way to home.
I saw how happy she was to get the bonus.
Although the amount was not enough she seemed to be happy.

She invited me to go eating Okonomiyaki with her bonus on Saturday.
I said, "Why not?"

Vol.100 The End of My Shoes

How long have you put on the same shoes?
Yesterday my favorite shoes whose age was 10 years old finally executed their mission.

When I was 17 years old the shoes made by "Nike" was boom at that time.
So I wanted the showes among them and found at Korean duty shop highschool excursion.

Since that time I had often wore the shoes to go to everywhere.
A most impressive memory with the them are the trip to Greek and Italy when I was 21 years old.
It was the first time to go to trip abroad by myself.
I have a lot of pictures with the shoes on.
As soon as I came back to Japan, my parents, who called for me at Narita air pot, ordered me to get off the car and to wash and clean my shoes immediately at highway parking.
Yeah, my shoes gave off an offensive smell!
But I did not notice it at all...

Recently, I had found it something strange about my shoes.

Because some air sound leaked from thr right shoe every steps.
So I felt a little bit ashamed of the sound as it is like shoes for children.
But I tried not to mind the sound.

Al last, the end of my shoes came.
They did their best to support me for 10 years.
I promise that I will continue to cherish all my belongings.
Thank you.

Vol.99 Who is the real criminal?

Last Sunday a man who is 25 years old stabbed several pedestrians at random after he hit pedestrians.
The murderous rampage has shocked not only Japan and the world.
As I posted the other day I was the place where the case happened.
If I had been there on Sunday I could be here...

I have a view about the case.
I think the man who committed the crime is relatively an ordinary person, compared with the defendant who killed and wounded children at elementary school in Osaka.
In case of Osaka, he seemed to have acted so weired.
But in case of Akihabara, I think the people like him exist everywhere in Japan.
I do not think the cause of the case is not attributed to his personality,
but to our social background.
Particularly, the cause of the problem is extreme competitive society.

These days, most of the criminals who committed heinous crimes seem to be dispatched employee, casual employee, or unemployed.
Above all, the number of the irregular employment is rapidly increasing.
Some are employed at a high salary, but enormous proportion of them work at low pay.
After the bubble burst,Japanese economy recovered Thanks to growth of dispatched service.
Now one in three of Japanese workers are employed as irregular employment.
I can say that the current Japan is supported by these dispatched workers.
But the their working condition is so awful.
Maybe it is better for some of them to be getting public assistance instead of working in such a adverse condition.
They just put up with these kinds of bad treatments desperately.
In my opinion, the real criminal of the case is excess competitive society and widespread service.

Of course, I never support the crime killing good citizen.
But I am afraid that murderous rampage like this case is going to increase more and more unless the cause of this social background is known.

先週秋葉原に行ったばかりのことだったので驚きました。
この事件の問題点は犯人がどこにでもいそうな比較的普通の人による犯罪だったことだと思います。
最近、派遣、フリーター、無職者による犯罪が目立ちますね。
地位、名誉、財産のある人たちはきっとこういった犯罪は起こさないでしょう。
しかし、実質上、日本を陰で支えている彼らは夢も希望も持つこともできません。
貯蓄もできず、家庭をもつことも難しいでしょう。
平凡な生活を築くことすらできないのです。
現在の行き過ぎた競争社会や派遣業界の横行が今回の事件を生み出した犯人といえるのではないでしょうか。

Vol.98 Boiled Pork and Beer

I make it a point to pick up my GF before her holiday.
Today I waited for her at a coffee shop as usual,and I saw her.
She seemed to be tired of working but also happy because tomorrow is her holiday.
She had told me that she would like to go to Okonomiyaki restaurant so that I looked up the restaurant located near Oimachi.

We went to Botejyu in Atre, but several groups were already standing in a row.
Giving up having Okonomiyaki there, we went to other restaurant near my house, where my GF had so much interest in.
But the owner said to us,
"I am afraid we have already run out of Okonomiyaki because many customers came as you see."

So, we went to Chinese restaurant, where I dined out for the first time since I moved to Tokyo last year.
I ordered the same food, Boiled Pork （豚の角煮）and a glass of beer, while she ordered Gomoku Yakisoba.

We enjoyed having dinner well.

I found this.
All of the staff at the restaurant are Chinese.
While we had dinner, they were chatting through to the end.
If they were Japanese I would have found it annoying, but it was not the case.
Foreign language which we are not familiar with sometimes makes us confused, but sometimes it does not makes us mind at all. It depends. Especially, Chinese language at a Chinese restaurant is a rather necessary to create nice atmosphere.

By the way, she bought me the dinner because she promised to buy me some when she got a salary.

東京ではお好み焼き屋さんって人気あるんですね。
お好み焼きは家で食べるものと思ってるので、あまり食べたくならないのですが、
彼女が店で食べたいというので行ってきました。
でも二軒とも並んでいたりネタ切れしていたりで、
結局中華を食べてきました。
中国人ってほんとによくしゃべる国民性ですねー。
中国語がわからないからこそ気になったり、イラついたりしませんでしたが、
外国語がわからないということは案外いいこともあるんですね。

Vol.97 A Rainy Day, Tokyo Uinv.

Today I went to the University of Tokyo in order to copy a scientific journal.
Unlike Tama library, they offer the reasonable copy service; 10 yen per a copy.
I copied a lot for preparing for entrance exams which will be held this month.
Although I visited only the library I could confirm that the Univ. has the good setting for studying.

I always think this.
Why civil officers are so bad tempered?
I feel they always look irritated when I ask something for them...
Not having known a rule in library I was told not to do bra bra by a civil officer.
That's why I do not like those who are engaged in civil service.
Hey you! Let's take it easy!

After that I waited at the Red gate called Akamon for my friend.

He was very surprised to see the heavy rain.
We went to Pigu, which is a steak restaurant, but it was still during preparation.
So, we waited for the opening hours at the nearby post office.
He told me that the last two times he went the restaurant it had been rainy. So it was today.

I ordered stamina on a hot plate while he did chicken with sesame.

He told me that he would like to visit my hometown in summer vacation.

By the way, I taught him how much unhappy and uncomfortable the Japanese people feel in this heavy rain.
Because it is natural for the people including him from Arabic countries to feel happy to see the rain.
They often say, "I like walking in the rain." or "The rain makes trees or flowers grow up."" or "Raining is beautiful."
They hardly put up their umbrella even in the heavy rain.
I mean, the custom to put up umbrella on rainy days are not fixed.
Because very little rain falls in the arid area.

I remember my humorous incident.
On a rainy day, I took a walk with putting up my umbrella.
Can you imagine how much outstanding I was with the umbrella.
In the street some guys spoke to me,
"Why you put up the umbrella? That's not fair!"

In addition, do you know what the Arabic call umbrella?
They call umbrella "Shamsiie", meaning parasol.
It suggests us that they use umbrella for sun tan not for getting yourself wet.
Cultural difference is so interesting.

友人は初めての大雨に戸惑っていました。
昔、傘をさして歩いていたら、
通り現地人に「なんで傘さして歩いているんだ？ずるい！」
と言われてびっくりした経験があります。

ところで、アラブの国では傘は「シャムスィーエ」といって、
「シャムス」（太陽）から派生しています。このことからわかるように、
アラブ諸国では傘は日傘として使うのが一般的なのです。

By the way, I have heard the phrases "yearning to see" and "dying to see".
These words suggest me how much he wants to see me.
But, to be honest with you, I laughed a little at seeing the phrase "dying to see you"!
The custom to express yourself directly even between two men is very common in Arabic society.
Maybe you feel a little bit strange if you are said "I am dying to see you" by a person of same sex.
But I like the Arab all the more for its directness to express their feeling.

Vol.95 Stay-at-home boyfriend

I can say that I am kind of stay-at-home dad.
In case of ours, I am stay-at-home boyfriend because I have not married with my girlfriend.

I show you part of my work.
There are the foods which I cooked for dinner.

This one is teriyaki chicken which I cooked last Friday.

Despite my first trial of cooking this I think I did rather well than I expected.
Its apperance does not like beautiful but it was yummy.
She complimented me on my cooking well.
In addition, she hesitated to eat the last slice of teritaki chicken.

And another one is double cooked pork.
I experienced to cook this meal for the first time.
Although I followed the recipe it was too salty.
I felt as if I licked Miso itself.
I should not have put so much Miso into it.

So I fried it again with the excess amount of cabbage so that it will not so tasty.
It was still tasty but it was O.K.

Oh, now it is the time she comes back home!

味噌の分量が多すぎてしまい、
まるで味噌をなめているかのようなしょっぱい味のホイコーローになってしまいました。
余ったキャベツを加えて炒めなおしてやっと食べれる味に・・・。
料理って難しいですね。
作る側に立って初めて料理を作ってもらえる側のありがたさがわかります。

Vol.94 Souvenior from my senior

I met me a senior of mine in my college days for the first time in a half year.
He came to Tokyo on the way his hometown Hokkaido after he had traveled Cambodia and Vietnam.
Before meeting him I was told to decide where to eat lunch in Akihabra.
I took a look at the Web for a restaurant.

I showed him the way to Niku no Mansei.
I ordered a set of beef steak and hamburger.

Good point of this restaurant is you can have a refill of rice free of charge.
In addition, they serve you a cup of coffee for free.

I talked with him over his impression about the 2 countries.
Especially, he talked me about a World Heritage site, the Angkor Wat temples.
According to his information, construction of buildings over 4th floors is not permitted because the temple has four floors.
The temple is regarded as the symbol by Cambodian people.

He asked me if I would attend the wedding party of other senior of mine.
I said,
"I would like to attend it and cerebrate him but maybe I could not attend..."
He said,
"It's just how you are. Other junior, N told me that he is attending but why you cannot?"
I explained my situation to him, but he seemed not to have tuned in to me.

I do not know whether I should go out of my way to attend his party....

Anyway, I received Vietnam coffee and T-shirt.

He said to me goodbye and added
"Graduate from NEET as soon as possible!"

Am I a NEET??

Vol.93 Failure at Watami

After copying I went to meet my friend.
As soon as we met each other he asked me how much he must pay the present for my father.
I said,
"No! No need have to pay."
He said very strongly,
"Please let me pay some. Because Your father is my father in Japan."
I was happy to perceive his feeling, so I received some money from him.

After that, he asked me to go to Shibuya because he wants to buy some CDs and poster.
I replied, "Why not?"

First, we visited HMV.
He found some CDs but they did not have posters which he had been looking for.
Second, we entered Loft on the way to Tower record.
He was looking for star-shaped sticker which glows in the dark but we could not.
Next, we went to Tower record.
The posters of his favorite artist were already sold out.
And they had the same CDs as sold in the HMV but they sold at the higher price.
Next, we went to Tokyu Hands to buy the star-shaped sheel.
And then, he bought the CDs in the HMV.

Feeling hungry, we were looking for a place to have dinner all over.
I did not know where go because it was the four or fifth times to come to Shibuya.
Finally, we entered Watami.
But my choice was wrong.
Because he is Muslim so we can not drink alcohol.
I realized that without drinking alcohol, chat and shout by the other customers are just noise for us.
We did not concentrate on our conversation at all because of noise.
I felt very sorry for him.
But the foods we ordered were O.K.

After having dinner at Watami, I invited him to eat ice cream at the Blue Seal.

We said goodbye and see each other soon.

Vol.92 Tama Library

Last Sunday I went to Tama Library to copy of magazines "Science of Biology".
It was very far from my house and it took about one hour to arrive there.
I felt as if there was not Tokyo prefecture.

The magazines I wanted to copy are available only in the library.
Other library, Center Libray has also the magazine, but now it is under construction.
That's why I had to come to Tachikawa all the way from Shinagawa.

The library has huge space to read and study as well as so many books.
To my surprise, they render of copy service.
You have only to inform them of the pages which you want to copy in a magazine or book.
But the problem is the cost.
It costs 25 yen as a sheet.
To make matters worse, you can not copy by yourself and you cannot borrow a book.
I had no choice but used the service.
It is convenient for you but it is too expensive.
Why I must pay as much as 25 yen?

Anyway, I asked them to copy it.
I paid over 1000 yen in total.

多摩図書館に行ってびっくり。
なんとコピーが一枚２５円。

何はともあれ、1000円分くらいコピーしてきました。
高い交通費かけて立川まで行ったのに・・・。

Vol.91 A Man Like A Woman

My girlfriend works at an animal hospital.
She told me a funny story.

One man, some 50 years old, visited the hospital with his cat.
A staff person at the reception desk noticed right away something odd about his appearance.
Because his face was put on foundation and his lip was put on a red rouge.
In addition, he was in bra!
But his voice was masculine one...
Can you believe it?

To hear that, my girlfriend was sure she will laugh at him if she sees his face.
So, while she was treating his cat she decided not to see his face as much as possible. Fortunately, she managed to make it. But, she is worried about if he visits the hospital again how she can avoid laughing. She has still bad habit of bursting out laughing when a thing holds true to her sense of humor. Sometimes, she laughs at the funny people or memories. Anyway, I advised her not to laugh however funny he is because he may be suffering from gender identity disorder. And I told her to do her duties with a sense of tension.

Vol.90 Invitation of wedding ceremony

I am invited to three wedding parties.
The 1st one is my senior from my college days.
The 2nd one is my classmate in college.
The 3rd one is my cousin.

If I were not the current situation, I mean, if I worked and I had money I would attend all of them.
It seems that some people hold a ceremony to collect money from their attendance, but I think all the three poeple noted avobe are definitely not the case.
They invited me to the parties because they are wanted to cerebrate by me.

Regarding the 1 st one, he will have a small party in a chartered restaurant.
He had been great help to me since I moved to the domitory.
But I do not have enough money to go to Hokkaido.
If he had the party in Tokyo, I could attend...
I can't seem to attend it for economic reason.
There must be some other way like sending a present to convey my feeling to him instead of attending.

The 2nd one, he kindly told me that he would bear the travelling expences.
So, In this case I do not have worry too much about the expense.
But unfortunately I have the interview of examination comingup after the ceremony.
I am afraid that I might bare my soul to my friends inspite of happy ocassions.
I expect some friends will ask me personal question about job, salary and marriage and so on.
If I worked now I would ask them the same things.
But I have a bad character with drinking.
When I drink with friends I become emotional.
I can control myself but the reunion must make me drink alcohol too much.
Maybe I will not be able to contol.

The 3rd one, only I was invited to the wedding ceremony of my cousin.
Although there is a fact that he has many cousins he invited me.
Because we played with each other when he was a kid.
And to my joy, they do not require any congratiraion tip to me.
So I will attend his ceremony.

I like to invited to the wedding ceremony in Arabic style.
You do not have to give them money or present.
All you have to do is chat, sing and dance.

三人目は従兄弟から。従兄弟の中で唯一招待されるのが私だそうだ。
ご祝儀もいらないからぜひ来ててほしいらしい。これには行く予定。

Vol.89 Light or Right?

Can you distinguish "light" from "right"?
I suppose that there are many Japanese people who can't pronounce "R" well.
To my shame, nor can I...
I am not good at pronouncing as well as hearing L and R.
So when I talked with a foreigner I voluntarily avoided the word especially including "R".

But now I am doing practise of pronunciation by this web site.
It is very useful tool for the people who want to improve their listening and speaking skills.

Vol.88 Post card

Today I went shopping to Granduo in Kamata.
I am going to send letters to my friends living in Arabic countries.
So, I need the postcards as will transmit relazed image to them.

There were many kinds of postcards available at the shop.
I wanted to buy postcards designed with a dog and a cat, but I gave up.
Because unlike Japanese people, the arabic people tend to dislike dogs.
In general, dogs are not permitted to keep due to religious taboo.

So, I chose postcards with safty design, a flock.

Anytime I can contact with them by e-mail.
But last month I got a letter from my friend.
When I saw his handwritten message I suddenly began to misse him.
I think that handwriting has more depth in words and it experess one's feeling more warmheartedly than e-mail.

Vol.86 Standing-up-eating Soba

I always cook meals for two people, me and my girlfriend.
Because she gets home around 20:30.
She is tired of her hard work, so it is my duty to prepare meals for her as well as for me.
But I am also busy studying for preparation of the examination.
So, after studying until 20:00 at a library I must come back home soon.
On the way to home sometimes I stop by a store and buy our food.
As soon as I arrive at my condo I set to work on preapration of a dinner.

But there is an exception.
She is supposed to cook a dinner before her holiday and on a holiday.

Today she was going to cook but she was exhausted after working.
So we had dinner at a soba noodle shop near the station.

We ate soba standing-up.
It was the first time for her to have something standing-up.
She was impressed a little by its style.
She said,
"Wow, it seems like Tokyo. I have watched the scene like here in TV drama."

But, to be truth, the taste was not so good.
I prefer cup soba or eat soba at Hanamaru to eating soba at the shop.
Anyway, it must have been a good experience for her to eat soba standing-up.
Next time, we are going to drink alcohol standing up.

This custom account for half the total marriage.
In a village four-fifths of the marriage is done by this.

An aged man said,

A young husband said,
"I kidnapped my wife. First, all that she did was cry, cry, and cry buts she was gradually getting used to the new environment."

It was my father's birthday two days ago.
I, my girlfriend and my friend gave a poloshirt to him.

It was right about my ordering S size instead of M size because the product is Eurosize.
So if I had ordered M size he would not have been satisfied with it.

He sent an email to me,
"I have just come home, and I opend a box and tried it on.
The size fit me perfect.
I have never bought accesarries of BMW because thy are expensive ones.
I really appericiate to you.
Please tell your girlfriend my thank, too."

I told him that the present is from my friend, too.
I am very happy to hear that he is satisfied so much with our present.
He hesitate to spend his salary freely even to repair his favorite bike.
Because his pay is too small.
Taxicab industries are facing severe competition.
Because of easing regulations and cut in working hours his pay is getting less and less...
That's why I wanted to encourge him to give something to please him.

The present was a great success.

Vol.81 Policeman came

When I brushed myb teeth somebody pushed the buzzar of the entry phone of my home.
I had a bad feeling.
It was a policeman.
He told me that he was asking to fill in my emergency contact number and address.
I allowed him to enter.

It seems that my emergency contact number will be used to concat with my family if disaster occur in the future.
While I filled in them he asked me what's been happening.
I replied, "yes, a thing happened but I repoerted it to the real estate agency.
And I continued to wirte...

He asked me again,
"Was there an incident that the entery phone of your house was pushed?"

I said, "Yes, there was."
I explained what happened to me before.

He gave me advice that I should report it to the ploice immdeaitely if it happens agin.

By the way, I saw her shopping in the street yesterday.
She did not notice me but I did.
Although she was said to be under depression, she looked a very normal person.
That's why I am scared of her.

Do you like Goya?
When I trid it for the first time I did not like it because of its bitter.
But the more I have, the more I like it.

Today I bought Goya for dinner.

Vol.79 What a lucky man you are!

My father's birthday is coming up.
Tommorow he will be 53 years old.
So I was thinking about what kind of present can make him happy.

He loves motorbikes and he always sees videos and parts related to it on the internet.
So, suppose I gave him kind of polo shirt.
I looked for a nice poloshirt except black color.
And I found it!

It is expensive but he must be happy.
Because he has a motorbike produced by BMW.
To my joy, not only my girlfriend but also my friend wants to club the expense.

Hey, fater! What a lucky man you are!

Vol.78 Iekei Ramen in Yokohama

It took just 30 minutes from the nearest station to Yokohama by train.
It was surprisingly sooner to arrive than I thought.

I decided to have ramen at Yoshimuraya, which is the most famous ramen shop in Yokohama.
People call it iekei ramen, but I have no idea about its origin.
Last time I went by the shop a lot pf people stood in line.
But, this time, they had several empty seats.

Today I went to Yokohama to have ramen.

Yeah, it was so tasty.
Although its soup was a little bit salty, I think it is the worth expense.
When you visit Yokohama please try it.

By the way, I have been to Yokohama three times so far.
I do not feel Yokohama is one of the cities in Kanagawa prefecture.
I feel as if Yokohama city belonged to Tokyo prefecture.
Because there are so many high-rise buildings, traffic and departments in Yokohama.
It looks like in Shinjyuku.

Today I dreamt two dreams.
One is that I claimed a 8 million yen on a scratch ticket.
I confirmed it many times and it was proved to be true.
But I was dreaming...

The other one is that father of my girlfriend boarded a helicopter.
I can't remember what made him appear in the dream of mine...

Vol.76 Is it too early?

Before I wrote down about worry of my friend.
He counsulted me about his suffering hair loss.

But I did not know how to advise him.
Because I have never suffered from hair loss.
So I asked the people around me.
Some people including my fater told me the drug called "Re-up plus" works well.
It is true that the drug is the most popular selling item on the internet.
So I recommended him to try the drug.

Two days after he started to use it, he reported me its effectiveness.
"Great! My hair loss is reducing!"

Really?
Is it too early?

Vol.75 That serves him right

That serve you right.
I usually do not have a bad opinion of people.
But I am sure he serves right.

The old man who I meet was absent in the library.
I thought he had had a trouble with the office staff as always.
My expectation proved right.
I heard them arguing about the public manners in the administrative office.

Deducing from their conversation, he warned other citizen not to make a loud noise.
Although he has been received attention not to exercise caution directly to the other users by the staff, he did the same thing today, too.

I know he is so sensitive a man that he wants to exercise caution by himself.
It is natural that in the world there be a lot types of people.
Some are sensitive, and other never mind.
But in his case his sensitiveness is excessive.
Even he dose not warn to user tranquility of the library can be maintained.
But whenever he comes here he begins to fight with other users.
And his bad point is his bucket mouth.
He uses harsh language.
So if scolded by his harsh language it should be no surprise that the other side get hot.

The staff strongly reminded him attention not to come here unless he can keeps a promise.
The man was reluctant to leave there.

Vol.74 Can we withstand the earthquake?

Over the last 2 weeks two disasters occurred.
One is cyclone in Myanmar and the other one earthquake is in China.

Regarding more details on situation in Myanmar, the junta would not share any information, so we hard to paint a precise picture of it.

According to news report in Chine, it seems that some pillage food supplies and others disturb public order with false rumors.
In addition, some people developed into a punch-up over bottles of water at a supermarkets and others bought as many as 200 loaves of bread on their own.
I thought it's like in turmoil because of the war.

But I think turmoil on Japanese is almost the same as the Chinese　if a huge disaster should occur in a big cities like Tokyo.
I am worried about food supply to us.
Because Tokyo prefecture makes up only 1% of self sufficiency in food.
It means that stomachs of Tokyo people are strongly supported by the other prefectures.
If the earthquake cause the road damage and makes Tokyo isolated, until when we can withstand?

Vol.73 Live in terror

Today's morning I consuletd me real estate agency about yesterday's incident.
He told me that he would contact with the old woman.

After one hour he called me back.
The following pieces of information were found.
Thre was a same incident happened to other resident last March.
In response to this, they introduced a security camera in the entrance.
Since that time there had no incidents like that.
So they thought the criminal was outsider.
But it was yesterday that the same incident happened.

He added, the old woman lives alone and she seems to suffer from depression.
Because of her depression she might have did such a thing, he said.
So there was any fault with me...
But I did not ask him why she attacked my house and whether she felt sorry for it.
According to his information, the criminal is related to the buiding owner.
So he could not request her to live in calm...
He told me to let him know if anythig happen again.

But after calling, when I was leaving home to library I saw her going somewhere.
As if she listened to all our conversation.
I felt scared of it, I started to go to the opposite direction.
But after a 2 minutes she appeard in front of me!
I was so scared!
So I escaped as soon as possible, and I took a rest in the other library.
But each time I saw old women like her UI remembered her....
even in the library, the street and the supermarket...
I feel myself being followed or watched by her...

At 20:30 she pushed the buzzar three or four times.
I ignored them.
Tomorrow I will cousult the agency about today's incident.
It does not mean whetehr she suffers from depression or not.
I just want to clearify why she did these foolish things.
Even though she has depression she can apologies.
Why she or her relation did not express any apologies?
This is the way of Tokyo people?

今日の話では私のほうに非がないことが判明した。
原因はうつ病だという。
しかし、うつだからといってこれらの行為が正当化される理由になるのか。

今日は朝からつけられて、夜はまたまたインターフォンを鳴らされました。
が、怖いので無視しました。
目がいっちゃってる人なので逆上して刺したりしてこないか本当に心配です。
図書館でもスーパーでも商店街でも、その老婆に狙われていないかどうか怯えています。
大家の親戚らしいので、その人を退去させるのは難しいでしょう。
とりあえず明日も今日あった出来事を管理会社に話して、今後の対応策を考えます。
怖くて何も手に付かないです・・・。

Vol.72 Hair cut ceremony

Today I had a lot of news around me.

1st in the library
As usual, the man complained about little things and informed it of staff working at the library.
You know, last time he was reported to the police on his making a public nuisance.
Today he complained about a young guy behaviour.
The young man is a person with intellectual disability.
In the past I was stared at by him but I knew he is one of the handicapped people.
So I did not mind it at all.
Despite his character, the man took him to the staff.
The office staff was fed up with his complaint.
They entered a room to discuss something.

After 5 minutes the young guy sat next mine.
He never seemed to understand why that happened.

2nd Hair Cut Ceremony
I had may hair cut after 3 months absence.
So my hair turned into something awful.
The beauty parlor which I went to provided me with nice hair style as well as reasonable price.
I paid just 1785 yen.

I often do not like idle conversation with beauticians.
Because they ask me everything like profession, hometown and other private things although they would not answer when I ask them the same questions.
I know they just try to find a topic that interests their customer.
That is their job!
So I was worried about if they asked me something I should answer what to say.
But the woman who cut my hair did not ask me any private things.
Maybe I was reading a magazine while my hair was being cut.

Anyway, I am satisfied with my new look.
My hair cut ceremony was successful.

3rd Espresso
After changing my look I studied a little.
I ordered a cup of espresso for the first time in Japan.
But I was surprised at a small amount of it, and remembered this is espresso.
I really blew it!

4th Who knocked the window?
On entering my room, somebody pushed the buzzer.
I thought it something strange because then it was 21:30.
I grabbed the receiver with a little scared of who rang the bell.
But nobody answered.
So I thought it must have pushed the buzzer by mistake.

But my relief turned into fear.
"Don,Don! Don, Don!"
Somebody pounded on the window facing the street.
I first thought it was by mistake, but it pounded the window repeatedly.
I got out of my house and rushed to the scene.
But there was nobody to be seen.
I returned to the entry of my building and I found a old woman.
She was suspiciously acting and was casting about for something.
I sensed she did it.
I asked he what happened.
But she criticised with angry face, "What were you doing?"
I did not understand why she was so angry.
I asked her, "What I did something wrong?"
She said to me, "Ask your conscience!!"
And then, she entered her room.

I can't stand what she did it and what she said.
Because I am sure that I have not done anything as will hart my conscience.
Why she pounded the window? Why she escaped? Why she was so angry?
Come to think of it, I remembered that somebody pushed the buzzer but it was no respond.
Also, I sensed someone standing by my window facing the street two weeks ago.
I am afraid if something bad will happen to me...
I am sure Tokyo has a lot of mad people like her and the man in the library.
That's why I hate Tokyo.
The air of Tokyo makes us crazy....

Anyway tomorrow I will consult my real estate agency about this incident...

こういうことがあるかと思って、通り沿いに面した住居は避けたほうがいいと最初は考えていたのですが、何せ家賃が安かったものですからつい・・・。
こちら側から窓を開けると通りからも開けられるようになってしまうので、
今はまだ開けていませんが、これから暑くなることを考えると、
安心して窓を開けられるようになりたいですね。
この件でますます思ったんですが、東京は本当に変人が多いです。
東京で子どもを育てたくないという親の気持ちがわかります。
早く東京から脱出しないと・・・。

Vol.71 Take chances

On my way home I saw a man selling portraits by his drawing on the streets.
I know him because...

I sometimes meet him on the same streets.
Last time I saw him begging people, but he was treated badly.
His age seemed to be the same as my father or more than that.
He must be at the begging of homeless people because his dressing looks still clean.
I had not met him for a few weeks, so I wondered what happened to him.

Today he sat on the street.
He was selling portraits and displayed one as a sample.
But it was way less than flattering.
His pen and paper were put down beside the sample.
He must have bought them at a 100 yen shop.

In other countries, homeless people excercise their ingenuities in begging money.

It is apparent that he is not good at drawing pictures.
He has few prospect to escape from homeless society.
I think the goverment should create safety network so that we will not produce homeless people any more.

His new attempt to take chances has started.

Vol.70 First Visit to My Friend

Yesterday evening I visited to a dormitory of my friend.
He lives in so large a dormitory that can accommodate as many as 300 residents.
It looks like a school.
It has a big lounge room, cafeteria and court for tennis.

Each person has own room furnished with a bed, desk and chair, refrigerator, and toilet and sink.
When I used the bathroom I found a water pot.
He seems to use it to wash his hands.

In his refrigerator there were ready-made frozen pizza, normal bread, Coke and so on.

We enjoyed chatting over nuts and coffee.
He asked me what the most effective medicine for growing hair is.
I searched for it on the Internet, and found it Reup.
He is worried about if his hair becomes more and more balding.

We felt hungry, so we walked to nearby station.
On the way to it there was a Okonomiyaki restaurant.
He said, "I have been to it, and they have menu without pig meat."
I was relieved to hear that and we entered it, but it had no vacant table.

We began to walk again for a restaurant and found Lapauza.
I had him order menu in Japanese to practise.
The food was not delicious. but we enjoyed talking.
When I tried paying a bill, he started to insist on his paying it.
I also insisted to pay it, but he paid with saying,
"Today you came visited me all the way, and you must have paid train fee a lot. You are my guest. Let me pay the bill."
Though I felt sorry, I respected his attitude.

Leaving there I took him to Starbucks to offer to buy him a cup of coffee.
But he started to insist on his treating me again.
I asked me to pay but after all I was a loser.
When he visits my house I am going treat him.
We talked over cups of caramel coffee.

His dormitory is located in calm area.
Near his dormitory I saw a lot of gorgeous houses.
I understood why people call the area as high-class residential district.

When I saw big trees I said,
"Wow, look at that tree! it is like Japanese tree."
He said,
"Hey, here in Japan!"
I have still feeling as if I had just come back from a foreign country after a long trip there.

I got nuts from him as souvenir because I told him many times that the nuts are tasty.

He kindly brought me to the station.
On the way to the station we met his friends by chance.
They seemed to come from Turkey and Iran.
I met an Iranian woman without putting hejab to cover her face for the first time.

According to my friend, some Iranian people drink alcohol even they are said to be rigid muslims.
They were good at speaking Japanase wel.
I was asked "Where are you from?"
She thought I was a foreign person because I was with him.

In the train to Shinjyuku I saw a man sleeping on the floor.
It was funny that he was sleeping by his glass.

Vol.68 My Golden Week (3rd day-2)

After having ramen we visited a winery and tasted some local wine.
We had ice cream wih wine flavor, too.

We went to Yonezawa City, where it is known as castle town.
I was moved by the following phrase;
"If you try, you can make it. If you don't try, you can't make it."

On our way to get back home, we stopped at Namedu Falls.
It was not such a big fall.

We bought braches of Actinidia for our pet as souvenir.

In the evening, we all had dinner at a Japanese style pub where mother works at.
We enjoyed drinking syoutyu and beer with eating delicious meals.

We went home on foot although it is about 2 km between our house and the shop.
We really enjoyed walking, too.

By the way, our cat was captivated by the matatabi.
She seemed to be the happiest of all.

Vol.66 My Golden Week (3rd day)

The 3rd day, we got up earlier to go to Okama near the top of the Mountain Zao.
This place is a lake made after volcanic eruption.
Last time was almost 20 years ago I visited there.

We left for Okama at 6:30, but the way to it was closed until 8:00.
So we waited for the gate openning.

It is already in May, but the alpine regions have still snow.
To see Okama we ran to the Observatory.

But it was so cold windy that we could not see it well.
So we took pictures quickly and rushed to a rest house.
I am O.K even if the temperature there is below zero, but I do not like to be exposed by the cold wind.
Anyway I enjoyed myself a lot.

We visited a museum of "Hamada Hirosuke" by father's reccomendation.

He is known as a writer of stories for children.
I watched a short film "The crying red devil".
Frankly speaking, I did not feel interesting.

After that we went to a famoue Temple called "Kameoka Monjyu".
This temple is known as a temmple of the god of academic achievements.

Every time before I and my sister take examm my parents come here to wish for our success.
Thanks to praying, I never faild to pass examm.
I passed along past thanks to the god, and prayed for giving me success again.

At launch we went to a ramen shop.
This shop is aloso father's recommendation, but it was not so yummy.
But people standed in life waiting for remen.

Vol.65 My Golden Week

I really enjoyed having a wonderful Golden week.
The first day, I had delicious food prepared by my mom with satisfaction.
All those were very tasty, but the most tasty one was rice cooked with bomboo shoot.

The second day, we went to Matsuhima.
On the way to Matsushima, we ate some local oysters.
It was O.K.

The area around Matsushima was too crowded with many cars.
So we decided to see the center of Matsushima after seeing Okumatsushima.
I was not so moved by Matsushima because I have visited there several times, and it was cloudy and rainny.

That night we enjoyed drinking and eating meal cooked by mother.
Father showed me old pictures when I was a child.
When I saw pictures I was taken with father I thought I really resemble him.
For example, his gesture looks just like mine as well as his looking.
I wish I would not be my father.

Vol.64 I found a laugh!

Yesterday was a pretty day for me and also my friend.

I got toghther at 19:00 in Shinjyuiku Station.
He called me and said to me that,
"Where are you? Now I am in front of the police box at the east exit."

When he called me I was waiting for him at the south exit.
Because he told me that he would wait for me there.
So, I rushed off to the police box.

On finding him from the crowd, I greeted him with a tree frog hug.
We walked together arm in arm.
Maybe you feel our action strange because there is no custom like that in Japan.
And even if it exists they will be considered as homo sexual.
But you know, it is quite natural that walking arm in arm between man and man or woman and woman in arabic society.

During with his conversation I remembered more Arabic language than yesterday.
It was like a flood.
But I had forgot simple words and I felt my pronouciation worse.

We walked round for a good restaurant because we were very hungry.
But I was not familiar with Shinjyuku, and because he is muslim he can not eat and drink any food cantaining alcohol and pig material.
So it took about a hour to find out English Pub "HUB".

He tried to order nonalcohol beer,
But they did not have it.
I wanted to drink alcohol but I ordered pine apple juice because I kewn it is bad manner to drink alcohol in front of muslim.
As for food, we had fish and chips as well as pizza.
We had a wonderful coversation and we laughed so much.

After that I knew he likes to sing songs,
so I invited him to go out to Karaoke.
It seemed to be the 3rd time for him to sing in Karaoke.

He is good at singing!
He likes European rock music very well.
His pronounciation in English is like a singer.
He shouted a lot.

I also sang English songs like "Imagine","Help" and "Cherry" and so on.

To my surprise, he began to sing "Donnatokimo".
He can not read Japanese lyrics but he learned it by his heart!

Before saying goodbye,
he kindly gave me some presents.
One is for me, and the other one is for my parents.

Yesterday's my failure was...
Although I knew there is custom that the part of the host must pay money for the guest, he paid money more quickly than I at the register.
I insited on paying but it was too late.

During visiting his country he often paid for me.
Even though I insisted on paying he refused and said,
"When I visit Japan, buy me some."
So I was going to pay for him.
But I paid for him in Karaoke.
So it is O.K.

Anyway, I enjoyed myself a lot.
And I laughed so much.
I had forgotten to lagh until I met him.

一年ぶりに友人と再会。
パブでご飯を食べてその後カラオケ。

そんなヤツ日本にいませんｗ

彼とはこんなことも話しました。たとえば、
日本と彼の国では「友達」の意味が違う。
さびしくなったとき、会いたくなったとき、困ったときに、
すぐに駆けつけてくれるのが友達。
でも、日本ではそうじゃない。
一週間前に電話やメールで約束しないと会えない。
うわべだけでつながっている友達が多いように思う。
とか。

そして、別れ際に彼にこう言った。
「何か困ったことがあったらすぐ連絡して。あっちにいたときよりも仲良くなろう」

さて、久しぶりに話したアラビア語。
さすがに一年も話していないと忘れてしまいますね。
全盛期の３割くらいしか話せませんでした。
英語も一緒で、毎日勉強することが大事ですね。
「継続は力なり」です。

Vol.63 Surprise

I have a good news.
Yesterday I found an e-mail address of my friend from my PC.
So immediately I told him that I am willing to welcome him anytime he visits Japan.

But to my surprise he replied, and he said

"Hi! How are you? Now I am in Japan! My cellphone is XXXXXX"

I was happy to see it, and then I called him.
It was also surprising that I started to speak in Arabic.
I still remember Arabic even though it has passed almost one year since I left.

Fortuntely, he could enter Tokyo Univ.
I am going to see him tommorow.

久しぶりにメールしてみたら、なんと彼は今東大に留学中とのこと。

I usually take an express bus to go home because of its cheap price.
Not only me but also many people become more and more attracted to these cheap prices.
So, it seems that competitions in the market has been intensifying.

But, to be cheap is truly good?
What is there behind?
Do you rember the poisoning cases of Chinese-made dumpling?
We learned a lesson that something cheap has something hidden.

If you see it, you will understand what is going on.
Japan is on the way to a country where no matter how hard low-income class work, they are not rewarded.

高速バスをよく使っていますが、
いつも思うのはドライバーさんが疲れきった表情をしていることです。
そりゃそうです。一週間のうち6日間かけて３航海（地方と東京を一往復すること）し、
一日休むという過酷な労働環境。疲れないわけがありません。
こんな状態で事故を起こさないわけがありません。
格安価格の秘密はそれに安全面が反映されてないためのようです。
この番組を見るまでは、事故はバス会社に問題があると思っていたのですが、
そうではなくて、チケット会社にあるように思いました。
安全面を重視するのであれば、バス会社にそれなりの価格を提示すべきです。
個人的には２－３割増しで価格が上がってもいいので、
安全面に配慮した運転を心がけてもらいたいです。

What are you going to do on Golden Week Holidays?
I am planning to go home after 2 months absence and stay there for three days and two nights.
This time, not alone, but with someone.
It is secret.

I will take a bus because it is the cheapest way to go back.
So, I am worried about if I am stuck in a traffic jam on the expressway.

By the way, I am addicted to fried minched meat.

I often eat this as a lunch.
Three pieces cost only 105 yen!
Can you beleive it?
It is so yoummy!!
You also must be addeicted to it.

I am happy though poor.

Vol.60 Blue-collar Worker Town

Today I went to Kamata.
It was the 2nd time for me to visit there.

My first imperession was "this town is with common touch".
As some poople say "Kamata is known for Blue-collar worker Town".
Indeed, there were many shops and several comercial avenues around the staion.

But, recently commercial comlex at the Kamata Staion called "Granduo"was reopened last week.
So, the building was crowded with a lot of people from the young to the elderly.

I saw...
The people were absorbed in shopping, eating and drinking.
On the other hand, some shabby men look like homeless people were just looking at them with idiling.

Even if a new commercila building opened, which would not improve thier lives.
They just wait for death to come.

The other day I described my concern about avian flu from human to human.

You know, American goverment has worked on problem of pademic flu with the same level of nucler war.
It means the avian flu is considered as national crisis.
Can you believe it?

If you can not feel serious,I do hope you will watch a program broadcat by NHK.
That is just what I worried about.

Of course the program is imaginary story, but it is sure to help you people become more familiar with avian flu.

I do not think this story is too unrealistic.
I think we should take a stronger interest in the spread of bird flu.

Vol.57 Awkward atmosphere

During studying at library as usual I heard the raised voices of men somewhere.
I found studying for a long time dull a little, and I approached the men to trace the source of the problem.

According to their argument, it seemed that a man did not take his turn, so another man got angry and kicked his leg. The man got very angry at being kicked and shouted enough to grab every body's attention there.

"You kicked me, didn't you?"
"I will call the police"
He repeated those phrases many times.

On the other hand, another man did not admit to have kicked at all.
To the contrary, his wife had not apologized him for her husband violating before they ran away at full speed.

The man forced the staff to release their individual information, address, name and phone number in a calm manner instead of following them. But, the library rejected to do so. And the manager went to follw them.

After 5 minutes, the manager came back and he said to the man,
"They have already gone by car"

The man said,
"You helped them get away, didn't you?"
"You have also responsibility because you let them get away."

Finally, they went somewhere to discuss further the matter.

五分後にその職員が戻ってきたが、「車で行ってしまった」という。（おそらく、わざと逃したと思われる）
Ｂと職員の対応を不満に思ったＡはその職員とどこかに消えていった。

Vol.56 Let's eat out!　But Hardship

I was delighted at my personal news.
So, I decided to eat out at a nearby Chinese restaurant after a long interval.
That was a good meal!

In addition, I had an ice cream from convenience store.
Spending money is sometimes O.K, isn't it?

But, I seriously worry about whether I should attend the wedding of my friend.
Why I am worried about it?
Of course, If I had enough money I would go. Yes, I do want to attend it.
As it is, as I told you my ecomical situation before I have little money because I have no job. And now I am preparing examination for admission to enter an University.
Even a 100-yen food I do not have courage to buy it.
10,000 or 30,000 yen is big number for me.

To tell the truth, I gave up attending the wedding party of my another friend because I could not pay 30,000 yen. So I told him a lie that I had already another appointment so I would be able to join the after party. That is how I managed to make it.
But this time it seems to me that I must attend the wedding from the beginning because I have been good on terms on him. If I were him he would hope that I would attend it. But the problem is paying money. How can I squeeze out my last savings. I hate this custom to give money as a gift when people have a wedding, give birth, and die.

実は今日プライベートでめでたいことがあったから外食に行ってきたんです。
前回外食したのは一ヶ月前の吉牛でしたが、今回は近所の中華屋で豚角煮丼をいただきました。
調子に乗って、レモンサワーを飲んで、帰りにアイスまで買ってしまいました。
一日を150円で生きている自分には、今日の肉つき酒つきのご飯はご馳走そのものでした。

さて、またお金のことでどうこう言いたくないのですが、やっぱりお金の問題が発生してしまいます。そりゃ当然です。仕事してないですからね。

実は友達の結婚式に呼ばれたのですが、嬉しい反面素直に喜べません。ご祝儀に割り当てるお金がないからです。実は以前に別の友人の式に呼ばれたときも、お金がないことを理由に、式には間に合わないからと偽って、3000円しかからない二次会から合流したことがあります。あのときは一日300円くらい（今よりリッチｗ）のカツカツの生活だったので、経済力に見合う判断をしたと思ってます。
自分としては、式には出ず、ご祝儀の代わり、といっても一万もするような高価なものはあげれませんが、何かいいプレゼントをあげて気持ちを伝えたいなと思うのですが、どうでしょうか？

Today I read a book "Dream box", which describes situation and problem about culling pets in Japan.
In Japan as many as 400 thousand of cats and dogs are culled by carbon dioxide generator every year.

I think that the number of people who keep pets as a fashion without taking it seriously. As a result, some of them give up the dog they have lived with just because they get tied of their pets or the pets grow up to be too big.
It is cleat that people who take irresponsible action are increasing.

Maybe, high conscious of animal right blame goverment concerned for terrible way to cull animals. But in my opinion, the way itself is not to be blamed, but the problem with people lacking of morality.

どういうことか写真がアップできません・・・。

今日は「ドリームボックス　殺されていくペットたち」という本を読みました。
日本では年間４０万頭もの犬猫が動物センターにあるドリームボックスという炭酸ガス装置で殺処分されているそうです。

消費者金融のＣＭでチワワが爆発的なペットブームが起こって以来、
ファッション感覚で気軽にペットを飼う人が増えてきているのではないでしょうか？
そして、気に入らなくなったら捨てる、大きくなったら捨てるという無責任な飼い主が増えているようです。
あるテレビ番組では、子どもが拾ってきた子猫を家で二ヶ月間育てていたものの、
子猫の世話のために、夏休みに海に旅行に行けないという理由で、
動物センターにその子猫を引き取りにもらいに来ていました。
「二ヶ月間だったけど、命の大切さが子どもたちにわかってもらってよかった。
飼える時期になったら、またここからもらおう」と親が話していましたが、
そんな簡単に命を奪っておいて、授かろうとしているその気持ちはどこからやってくるのでしょうか？
こんな大人がいる以上、動物の殺処分がなくなることはないでしょう。
殺処分自体が悪いのではなく、問題はこういった状況を作り出した人間側のモラルの欠如にあると思います。

Vol.54 Window View From Train

Until today I had put up with feeling to take trains to go to somewhere, and I had walked as far as neighboring stations.

But today I went shopping at Oimachi by train.
I felt fresh to see a good view from window in the tarain because I took a train to for a month absence.

I hate to say it, but I do not like Tokyo at all.
I am sure to keep this feeling so long as I live in Tokyo.

First of all, peopel living here are more unfriendly and unkind than those in local cities. In parts because I used to live in a foreign country whose people have hospitality for any foreign people.

What are the main advantages of living in Tokyo?
The first thing that comes to my mind is much opportunity to obtain employment.
Because I could not find any job in my prefecture, so I tried to find in Tokyo.
If I had found a job in my hometown, I would not be here.
Yes, I did want to come to Tokyo.
Of course, if you say any job is acceptable you have no problem.
But you want to work at convenient store as a part-time job or do a routine task at factories?
In the countryside there are few attractive job with good payment, they, including me, wish not to leave thier hometown but they have no choice but go to big cities for getting employment.

In my house there is no TV but I always enjoy killing time through using the internet.
For example, in spite of being protected by copyright you can watch most of whatever video you like whenever it is conveient for you.
Additionally, I want to reccomend NKK world for people who are learnig English.
This website provides streaming service about daily news subtitled in Japanese.
I use this service everyday to improve my listening skills.

Without TV I feel I could come to freeky make more time for myself.
I do not need a TV.

I am worried about what we should do if the disease start to transmit human to human some day. It was not until I saw this article that I could realize the pandemic disease is such a serious problem.
Although we do know as yet when it will occur,
an expert says that pandemic is sure to come in the future.

a short old woman said to me,

Vol.50 Practice makes perfect

It is almost 2 months since I started to blog about my personal life and what I think.
I feel my ablity in English has been improved by degrees.
I keep this up and I may score high marks in TOEIC test.

This is a cat which I came across on my way to library today.

He is not so prettey one but I love cats.

By the way, every time I go to a library, I see crazy people at least one person.
A young man was singing a song while reading a quarterly corporate report.
It was clear that he caused troubles around him because we are supposed to be quite at the library, but it's like he is in another world.

Another high school student sat studying.
But suddenly, he shouted bleatingly.
I was scared of looking at his face because I thought he will pull off something extraordinary.

At last, I could understand the reason why people say that Tokyo security is poor.
Why parents want their children to bring mobile with them wherever they go.
Especially, in Tokyo who knows what will happen to us?
I feel strongly against modern Japanse security.

ついに来た、来た！
今日は週に一回のアルコール解禁日！
発泡酒一本だけ買う予定でしたが、レジ横にあった柿ピーまで買ってしまいました。。。
今からお風呂に入ってビールをぐいっと飲み干すのが楽しみです。
彼は今、冷凍庫でスタンバってますｗ

こうやってビールを飲めることに感謝します。

Vol.46 Animal Experiments

I begin reading articles about whether it is wrong or right to test on animals.
Although there are some emotional comments on it, I think we need to objectively make a reasonable judgment about as follows;

In reality, what experiments are being done now?
what kind of advantage would be brought?

And then, we should balance the potential benefits and risks for tests on animals.

動物実験の結果に基づいて、研究を進めてきた結果、ワクチンや抗生物質の開発につながった。今日の現代医療があるのはこれら実験動物のおかげであるといっても過言ではないのかもしれない。自分も動物が好きなのでできれば動物実験はないほうがいいと思ってしまう。でも現実的にはこういった医療分野での恩恵を享受している現状からは、動物実験は必要とせざるをえない。動物実験の３Ｒというものがあるようだ。置換replacement 削減reduction 軽減refinement。完全になくすのは無理だとしても、こういった3原則を努力目標に掲げて改善していくべきと思う。
