Vol.91 A Man Like A Woman
My girlfriend works at an animal hospital.
She told me a funny story.
One man, some 50 years old, visited the hospital with his cat.
A staff person at the reception desk noticed right away something odd about his appearance.
Because his face was put on foundation and his lip was put on a red rouge.
In addition, he was in bra!
But his voice was masculine one...
Can you believe it?
To hear that, my girlfriend was sure she will laugh at him if she sees his face.
So, while she was treating his cat she decided not to see his face as much as possible. Fortunately, she managed to make it. But, she is worried about if he visits the hospital again how she can avoid laughing. She has still bad habit of bursting out laughing when a thing holds true to her sense of humor. Sometimes, she laughs at the funny people or memories. Anyway, I advised her not to laugh however funny he is because he may be suffering from gender identity disorder. And I told her to do her duties with a sense of tension.

巷では「男性メイドカフェ」なるものも出てきたようですが、

Vol.90 Invitation of wedding ceremony

I am invited to three wedding parties.
The 1st one is my senior from my college days.
The 2nd one is my classmate in college.
The 3rd one is my cousin.
If I were not the current situation, I mean, if I worked and I had money I would attend all of them.
It seems that some people hold a ceremony to collect money from their attendance, but I think all the three poeple noted avobe are definitely not the case.
They invited me to the parties because they are wanted to cerebrate by me.
Regarding the 1 st one, he will have a small party in a chartered restaurant.
He had been great help to me since I moved to the domitory.
But I do not have enough money to go to Hokkaido.
If he had the party in Tokyo, I could attend...
I can't seem to attend it for economic reason.
There must be some other way like sending a present to convey my feeling to him instead of attending.
The 2nd one, he kindly told me that he would bear the travelling expences.
So, In this case I do not have worry too much about the expense.
But unfortunately I have the interview of examination comingup after the ceremony.
I am afraid that I might bare my soul to my friends inspite of happy ocassions.
I expect some friends will ask me personal question about job, salary and marriage and so on.
If I worked now I would ask them the same things.
But I have a bad character with drinking.
When I drink with friends I become emotional.
I can control myself but the reunion must make me drink alcohol too much.
Maybe I will not be able to contol.
The 3rd one, only I was invited to the wedding ceremony of my cousin.
Although there is a fact that he has many cousins he invited me.
Because we played with each other when he was a kid.
And to my joy, they do not require any congratiraion tip to me.
So I will attend his ceremony.
I like to invited to the wedding ceremony in Arabic style.
You do not have to give them money or present.
All you have to do is chat, sing and dance.

一人目は、お世話になった人だけど、遠方に行くためのお金が今の自分にはない。

だけど、今自分がこんな状態なので、二次会でお酒を飲んだ勢いで場を盛り下げるような存在にならないかどうか心配。めでたい席に今の自分はそぐわないんじゃないかなと。向こうが気にしなくてもこちらは意外と気にするもの。
三人目は従兄弟から。従兄弟の中で唯一招待されるのが私だそうだ。
ご祝儀もいらないからぜひ来ててほしいらしい。これには行く予定。

Vol.89 Light or Right?

Can you distinguish "light" from "right"?
I suppose that there are many Japanese people who can't pronounce "R" well.
To my shame, nor can I...
I am not good at pronouncing as well as hearing L and R.
So when I talked with a foreigner I voluntarily avoided the word especially including "R".
But now I am doing practise of pronunciation by this web site.
It is very useful tool for the people who want to improve their listening and speaking skills.

Because acutually I lived there and I have many friends of Arab.

Today I went shopping to Granduo in Kamata.
I am going to send letters to my friends living in Arabic countries.
So, I need the postcards as will transmit relazed image to them.
There were many kinds of postcards available at the shop.
I wanted to buy postcards designed with a dog and a cat, but I gave up.
Because unlike Japanese people, the arabic people tend to dislike dogs.
In general, dogs are not permitted to keep due to religious taboo.
So, I chose postcards with safty design, a flock.
Anytime I can contact with them by e-mail.
But last month I got a letter from my friend.
When I saw his handwritten message I suddenly began to misse him.
I think that handwriting has more depth in words and it experess one's feeling more warmheartedly than e-mail.

Vol.86 Standing-up-eating Soba
I always cook meals for two people, me and my girlfriend.
Because she gets home around 20:30.
She is tired of her hard work, so it is my duty to prepare meals for her as well as for me.
But I am also busy studying for preparation of the examination.
So, after studying until 20:00 at a library I must come back home soon.
On the way to home sometimes I stop by a store and buy our food.
As soon as I arrive at my condo I set to work on preapration of a dinner.
But there is an exception.
She is supposed to cook a dinner before her holiday and on a holiday.
Today she was going to cook but she was exhausted after working.
So we had dinner at a soba noodle shop near the station.
We ate soba standing-up.
It was the first time for her to have something standing-up.
She was impressed a little by its style.
She said,
"Wow, it seems like Tokyo. I have watched the scene like here in TV drama."
But, to be truth, the taste was not so good.
I prefer cup soba or eat soba at Hanamaru to eating soba at the shop.
Anyway, it must have been a good experience for her to eat soba standing-up.
Next time, we are going to drink alcohol standing up.

It was my father's birthday two days ago.
I, my girlfriend and my friend gave a poloshirt to him.
It was right about my ordering S size instead of M size because the product is Eurosize.
So if I had ordered M size he would not have been satisfied with it.
He sent an email to me,
"I have just come home, and I opend a box and tried it on.
The size fit me perfect.
I have never bought accesarries of BMW because thy are expensive ones.
I really appericiate to you.
Please tell your girlfriend my thank, too."
I told him that the present is from my friend, too.
I am very happy to hear that he is satisfied so much with our present.
He hesitate to spend his salary freely even to repair his favorite bike.
Because his pay is too small.
Taxicab industries are facing severe competition.
Because of easing regulations and cut in working hours his pay is getting less and less...
That's why I wanted to encourge him to give something to please him.
The present was a great success.

Vol.81 Policeman came

When I brushed myb teeth somebody pushed the buzzar of the entry phone of my home.
I had a bad feeling.
It was a policeman.
He told me that he was asking to fill in my emergency contact number and address.
I allowed him to enter.
It seems that my emergency contact number will be used to concat with my family if disaster occur in the future.
While I filled in them he asked me what's been happening.
I replied, "yes, a thing happened but I repoerted it to the real estate agency.
And I continued to wirte...
He asked me again,
"Was there an incident that the entery phone of your house was pushed?"
I said, "Yes, there was."
I explained what happened to me before.
He gave me advice that I should report it to the ploice immdeaitely if it happens agin.
By the way, I saw her shopping in the street yesterday.
She did not notice me but I did.
Although she was said to be under depression, she looked a very normal person.
That's why I am scared of her.

Vol.80 Sauteed Goya
Do you like Goya?
When I trid it for the first time I did not like it because of its bitter.
But the more I have, the more I like it.
Today I bought Goya for dinner.
I sauteed it with tofu, bean sprout, carrot and beaten egg.
It's so yummy!

ゴーヤーチャンプルにして食べました。
豆腐の水気を抜いてから炒めるのがポイントです。

Vol.79 What a lucky man you are!
My father's birthday is coming up.
Tommorow he will be 53 years old.
So I was thinking about what kind of present can make him happy.
He loves motorbikes and he always sees videos and parts related to it on the internet.
So, suppose I gave him kind of polo shirt.
I looked for a nice poloshirt except black color.
And I found it!
It is expensive but he must be happy.
Because he has a motorbike produced by BMW.
To my joy, not only my girlfriend but also my friend wants to club the expense.
Hey, fater! What a lucky man you are!

Vol.78 Iekei Ramen in Yokohama
It took just 30 minutes from the nearest station to Yokohama by train.
It was surprisingly sooner to arrive than I thought.
I decided to have ramen at Yoshimuraya, which is the most famous ramen shop in Yokohama.
People call it iekei ramen, but I have no idea about its origin.
Last time I went by the shop a lot pf people stood in line.
But, this time, they had several empty seats.
Today I went to Yokohama to have ramen.
Yeah, it was so tasty.
Although its soup was a little bit salty, I think it is the worth expense.
When you visit Yokohama please try it.
By the way, I have been to Yokohama three times so far.
I do not feel Yokohama is one of the cities in Kanagawa prefecture.
I feel as if Yokohama city belonged to Tokyo prefecture.
Because there are so many high-rise buildings, traffic and departments in Yokohama.
It looks like in Shinjyuku.

I dream a dream almost everday, and sometimes more than one dream per sleeping.
Today I dreamt two dreams.
One is that I claimed a 8 million yen on a scratch ticket.
I confirmed it many times and it was proved to be true.
But I was dreaming...
The other one is that father of my girlfriend boarded a helicopter.
I can't remember what made him appear in the dream of mine...

Vol.76 Is it too early?

Before I wrote down about worry of my friend.
He counsulted me about his suffering hair loss.
But I did not know how to advise him.
Because I have never suffered from hair loss.
So I asked the people around me.
Some people including my fater told me the drug called "Re-up plus" works well.
It is true that the drug is the most popular selling item on the internet.
So I recommended him to try the drug.
Two days after he started to use it, he reported me its effectiveness.
"Great! My hair loss is reducing!"
Really?
Is it too early?

Vol.75 That serves him right

That serve you right.
I usually do not have a bad opinion of people.
But I am sure he serves right.
The old man who I meet was absent in the library.
I thought he had had a trouble with the office staff as always.
My expectation proved right.
I heard them arguing about the public manners in the administrative office.
Deducing from their conversation, he warned other citizen not to make a loud noise.
Although he has been received attention not to exercise caution directly to the other users by the staff, he did the same thing today, too.
I know he is so sensitive a man that he wants to exercise caution by himself.
It is natural that in the world there be a lot types of people.
Some are sensitive, and other never mind.
But in his case his sensitiveness is excessive.
Even he dose not warn to user tranquility of the library can be maintained.
But whenever he comes here he begins to fight with other users.
And his bad point is his bucket mouth.
He uses harsh language.
So if scolded by his harsh language it should be no surprise that the other side get hot.
The staff strongly reminded him attention not to come here unless he can keeps a promise.
The man was reluctant to leave there.

Vol.74 Can we withstand the earthquake?
Over the last 2 weeks two disasters occurred.
One is cyclone in Myanmar and the other one earthquake is in China.
Regarding more details on situation in Myanmar, the junta would not share any information, so we hard to paint a precise picture of it.
According to news report in Chine, it seems that some pillage food supplies and others disturb public order with false rumors.
In addition, some people developed into a punch-up over bottles of water at a supermarkets and others bought as many as 200 loaves of bread on their own.
I thought it's like in turmoil because of the war.
But I think turmoil on Japanese is almost the same as the Chinese if a huge disaster should occur in a big cities like Tokyo.
I am worried about food supply to us.
Because Tokyo prefecture makes up only 1% of self sufficiency in food.
It means that stomachs of Tokyo people are strongly supported by the other prefectures.
If the earthquake cause the road damage and makes Tokyo isolated, until when we can withstand?

Vol.73 Live in terror

Today's morning I consuletd me real estate agency about yesterday's incident.
He told me that he would contact with the old woman.
After one hour he called me back.
The following pieces of information were found.
Thre was a same incident happened to other resident last March.
In response to this, they introduced a security camera in the entrance.
Since that time there had no incidents like that.
So they thought the criminal was outsider.
But it was yesterday that the same incident happened.
He added, the old woman lives alone and she seems to suffer from depression.
Because of her depression she might have did such a thing, he said.
So there was any fault with me...
But I did not ask him why she attacked my house and whether she felt sorry for it.
According to his information, the criminal is related to the buiding owner.
So he could not request her to live in calm...
He told me to let him know if anythig happen again.
But after calling, when I was leaving home to library I saw her going somewhere.
As if she listened to all our conversation.
I felt scared of it, I started to go to the opposite direction.
But after a 2 minutes she appeard in front of me!
I was so scared!
So I escaped as soon as possible, and I took a rest in the other library.
But each time I saw old women like her UI remembered her....
even in the library, the street and the supermarket...
I feel myself being followed or watched by her...
At 20:30 she pushed the buzzar three or four times.
I ignored them.
Tomorrow I will cousult the agency about today's incident.
It does not mean whetehr she suffers from depression or not.
I just want to clearify why she did these foolish things.
Even though she has depression she can apologies.
Why she or her relation did not express any apologies?
This is the way of Tokyo people?

人の家のインターフォンを何度も鳴らし、出ても応答せず。
そして、窓をドンドンと叩いて逃げた挙句、
私と出会うなり「あんた何やってんだ?自分の胸に聞いてみろ」
とすごい剣幕を立てて怒られたのが昨夜。
今日の話では私のほうに非がないことが判明した。
原因はうつ病だという。
しかし、うつだからといってこれらの行為が正当化される理由になるのか。
今日は朝からつけられて、夜はまたまたインターフォンを鳴らされました。
が、怖いので無視しました。
目がいっちゃってる人なので逆上して刺したりしてこないか本当に心配です。
図書館でもスーパーでも商店街でも、その老婆に狙われていないかどうか怯えています。
大家の親戚らしいので、その人を退去させるのは難しいでしょう。
とりあえず明日も今日あった出来事を管理会社に話して、今後の対応策を考えます。
怖くて何も手に付かないです・・・。

Vol.72 Hair cut ceremony
Today I had a lot of news around me.
1st in the library
As usual, the man complained about little things and informed it of staff working at the library.
You know, last time he was reported to the police on his making a public nuisance.
Today he complained about a young guy behaviour.
The young man is a person with intellectual disability.
In the past I was stared at by him but I knew he is one of the handicapped people.
So I did not mind it at all.
Despite his character, the man took him to the staff.
The office staff was fed up with his complaint.
They entered a room to discuss something.
After 5 minutes the young guy sat next mine.
He never seemed to understand why that happened.

2nd Hair Cut Ceremony
I had may hair cut after 3 months absence.
So my hair turned into something awful.
The beauty parlor which I went to provided me with nice hair style as well as reasonable price.
I paid just 1785 yen.
I often do not like idle conversation with beauticians.
Because they ask me everything like profession, hometown and other private things although they would not answer when I ask them the same questions.
I know they just try to find a topic that interests their customer.
That is their job!
So I was worried about if they asked me something I should answer what to say.
But the woman who cut my hair did not ask me any private things.
Maybe I was reading a magazine while my hair was being cut.
Anyway, I am satisfied with my new look.
My hair cut ceremony was successful.

3rd Espresso
After changing my look I studied a little.
I ordered a cup of espresso for the first time in Japan.
But I was surprised at a small amount of it, and remembered this is espresso.
I really blew it!

4th Who knocked the window?
On entering my room, somebody pushed the buzzer.
I thought it something strange because then it was 21:30.
I grabbed the receiver with a little scared of who rang the bell.
But nobody answered.
So I thought it must have pushed the buzzer by mistake.
But my relief turned into fear.
"Don,Don! Don, Don!"
Somebody pounded on the window facing the street.
I first thought it was by mistake, but it pounded the window repeatedly.
I got out of my house and rushed to the scene.
But there was nobody to be seen.
I returned to the entry of my building and I found a old woman.
She was suspiciously acting and was casting about for something.
I sensed she did it.
I asked he what happened.
But she criticised with angry face, "What were you doing?"
I did not understand why she was so angry.
I asked her, "What I did something wrong?"
She said to me, "Ask your conscience!!"
And then, she entered her room.
I can't stand what she did it and what she said.
Because I am sure that I have not done anything as will hart my conscience.
Why she pounded the window? Why she escaped? Why she was so angry?
Come to think of it, I remembered that somebody pushed the buzzer but it was no respond.
Also, I sensed someone standing by my window facing the street two weeks ago.
I am afraid if something bad will happen to me...
I am sure Tokyo has a lot of mad people like her and the man in the library.
That's why I hate Tokyo.
The air of Tokyo makes us crazy....
Anyway tomorrow I will consult my real estate agency about this incident...

最後の件は本当に悩んでます。
もしかして犯人と鉢合わせたら刺されるんではないかと思って心臓が飛び出しそうでした。
こういうことがあるかと思って、通り沿いに面した住居は避けたほうがいいと最初は考えていたのですが、何せ家賃が安かったものですからつい・・・。
こちら側から窓を開けると通りからも開けられるようになってしまうので、
今はまだ開けていませんが、これから暑くなることを考えると、
安心して窓を開けられるようになりたいですね。
この件でますます思ったんですが、東京は本当に変人が多いです。
東京で子どもを育てたくないという親の気持ちがわかります。
早く東京から脱出しないと・・・。

Vol.71 Take chances

On my way home I saw a man selling portraits by his drawing on the streets.
I know him because...
I sometimes meet him on the same streets.
Last time I saw him begging people, but he was treated badly.
His age seemed to be the same as my father or more than that.
He must be at the begging of homeless people because his dressing looks still clean.
I had not met him for a few weeks, so I wondered what happened to him.
Today he sat on the street.
He was selling portraits and displayed one as a sample.
But it was way less than flattering.
His pen and paper were put down beside the sample.
He must have bought them at a 100 yen shop.
In other countries, homeless people excercise their ingenuities in begging money.

It is apparent that he is not good at drawing pictures.
He has few prospect to escape from homeless society.
I think the goverment should create safety network so that we will not produce homeless people any more.
His new attempt to take chances has started.

こうした人をこれ以上増やさないためにも、社会が受け皿となるセーフティネットづくりが大事だ。

Vol.70 First Visit to My Friend
Yesterday evening I visited to a dormitory of my friend.
He lives in so large a dormitory that can accommodate as many as 300 residents.
It looks like a school.
It has a big lounge room, cafeteria and court for tennis.
Each person has own room furnished with a bed, desk and chair, refrigerator, and toilet and sink.
When I used the bathroom I found a water pot.
He seems to use it to wash his hands.
In his refrigerator there were ready-made frozen pizza, normal bread, Coke and so on.
We enjoyed chatting over nuts and coffee.
He asked me what the most effective medicine for growing hair is.
I searched for it on the Internet, and found it Reup.
He is worried about if his hair becomes more and more balding.
We felt hungry, so we walked to nearby station.
On the way to it there was a Okonomiyaki restaurant.
He said, "I have been to it, and they have menu without pig meat."
I was relieved to hear that and we entered it, but it had no vacant table.
We began to walk again for a restaurant and found Lapauza.
I had him order menu in Japanese to practise.
The food was not delicious. but we enjoyed talking.
When I tried paying a bill, he started to insist on his paying it.
I also insisted to pay it, but he paid with saying,
"Today you came visited me all the way, and you must have paid train fee a lot. You are my guest. Let me pay the bill."
Though I felt sorry, I respected his attitude.
Leaving there I took him to Starbucks to offer to buy him a cup of coffee.
But he started to insist on his treating me again.
I asked me to pay but after all I was a loser.
When he visits my house I am going treat him.
We talked over cups of caramel coffee.
His dormitory is located in calm area.
Near his dormitory I saw a lot of gorgeous houses.
I understood why people call the area as high-class residential district.
When I saw big trees I said,
"Wow, look at that tree! it is like Japanese tree."
He said,
"Hey, here in Japan!"
I have still feeling as if I had just come back from a foreign country after a long trip there.
I got nuts from him as souvenir because I told him many times that the nuts are tasty.
He kindly brought me to the station.
On the way to the station we met his friends by chance.
They seemed to come from Turkey and Iran.
I met an Iranian woman without putting hejab to cover her face for the first time.
According to my friend, some Iranian people drink alcohol even they are said to be rigid muslims.
They were good at speaking Japanase wel.
I was asked "Where are you from?"
She thought I was a foreign person because I was with him.
In the train to Shinjyuku I saw a man sleeping on the floor.
It was funny that he was sleeping by his glass.
